1 13" axle deadlift
1 @ 220 kg
1 @ 230 kg
1 @ 240 kg - PR
3 x 2 @ 200 kg
More or less what I am aiming for at the comp. I plan on adding 2,5 kg to each attempt. Still glad I could do 240 kg finally without much struggle.
2 sandbag throw

3 hang clean

(No, I will NOT stop)
Of course you won’t! Although I will test your endurance if I pursue my little weightlifting side quest and go for all the snatches.
23.09.
1 snatch
Up to 85 kg
Not a good day. Had a bunch fails because I didn’t get into full extension
2 clean & jerk
Up to 110 kg
3 log clean & press
1 x 6 @ 76 kg
4 13" axle pull
2 x 2 @ 156 kg
I would consider these 2nd attempts for my current weightlifting level, although 85 kg proved me wrong today.
This was the last workout before Saturday. A bit heavier than one should probably go but then again, my technique severely limits the weights I can use in weightlifting. So I use should be fine and able to recover.

Ergometer cycling
60 minutes @ 110 watts, 60-70 rpm
Talking on the phone during, so easy effort but was still drenched.
I need to make this more of a routine but fuck me, I hate it.
Feel you here!
Congrats on the deadlift PR as well!
Now if only it was a real one from the ground… and also not only my old pb deadlift from the ground, matched at 13"…
I know what you mean, but you’ve always said you find that height difficult and I find similar things with deads (I almost find deficit easier), so don’t downplay it, take the win!
You’re right, mate. Gotta celebrate the small wins! With a shot to expand on it on Saturday.

Ergometer cycling
30 minutes @ 115 watts, 60-70 rpm
Very easy effort but at least something.

Competition recap
I was once again invited to this annual competition among friends. In this format, it was sadly the last one.
I had a truly great time and a fun day with some wonderful people and that alone made it worth it!
We were 5 people competing today. 3 2nd league athletes, 1 pro league (well he won the 2nd league this year) and 1 ex footballer. All nattys.
I didn’t do an elaborate prep and I honestly just wanted to get it behind me and start the off season but also wanted to follow the invitation because the host always puts a ton of work into these (like individual selfmade trophies) and exciting events. Alao I have known him my whole career ans he’s always been a friend to me. But then I ended up having a great time and a great competition and I am glad I did it!
Event 1: Log for reps
60 sec. time cap, 105 kg
5 reps, 3 way tie for 2nd place
A little disappointed for this one. I wanted 6 reps but had a bit of a hard time with this big wooden log. 5 reps is not a bad result however and I only trained log 3 or 4 times this year.
Event 2: Apollon Axle Deadlift for max
13 inches bar height, 3 attempts (powerlifting style)
Attempt 1: 222,5
Attempt 2: 232,5
Attempt 3: 242,5 - PR!
This was exactly what I set out to do. Very pleased and I even had a little bit in the tank. 4th place.
Event 3: Yoke carry, 2 x 10 meters, 250 kg
I finished in 14.75 seconds for 2nd place
My cap got in my face and I couldn’t see where I was going .
Event 4: Sandbag throw for maximum height
16 kg sandbag, 3 attempts per round
Starting height was 3.70 meters and each round it increased by 30 cm.
3.70 m
4 m
4.30 m
4.60 m
This went well, I think. Better than expected. Throws just suck. Tied for 3rd.
Event 5: Carry and drag medley
It was very close on the score sheet and I had to beat our host to get on the podium.
75 kg keg, 100 kg sandbag, 360 kg sled for 10 meters each
Managed it in 34.08 seconds for 3rd place and secured my overall spot.
Congrats on the deadlift PR and the 3rd place finish. I’m so glad you enjoyed the day!!!
You have been killing your comps dude! Congrats on 3rd!
Love that mate, well done
Just had a chance to watch the comp vid, great effort and looked like a fun day, love that trophy, very cool, and congrats on the PR!
Thank you people!
