If you had to carry something like this, how would you prepare for it? Shouldering not allowed.

Keg, sandbags, yoke available. I was thinking maybe zercher carries?

How do you plan to carry it? I was thinking I would carry it across my body one arm over one arm under.

Zercher or sandbag front carry would work. Could
Try carrying the keg without using the handles depending how heavy it is.

That’s the question… Right now I’m thinking either zercher position or with one hand on the bottom of the tank and then the body of the tank in the other elbow crease (so a one sided zercher). Which would put a lot of pressure on the biceps.

I think my best bet would be to train zerchers with the yoke and then sandbag carries, no?

I think the keg is too thick to simulate the tanks

If you can get hands on them prior to the event, I’d see how evenly weighted they are. If they’re uniform, zercher may not be a bad idea.

If one side is heavier than the other, a caber toss like hold might work well.

Sadly I won’t get my hands on it.

Yeah caber toss position was what I was trying to describe, I think (?). I think to get it into a zercher position and have the weight evenly disputed will be a challenge.

Would you still agree with zercher walks as a way of preparation?

This is the caber toss:

If the base of the tank is the heaviest part, I think it might work.

I think zercher walks would you get strong as hell and if the tanks are evenly weighted probably the better carry option.

Uh I misunderstood you! That looks like a brilliant carry technique! Unless it would fall under shouldering, which is not allowed.

It is hard to specifically train for, so I would still stick to sandbags and zerchers

Big total volume PR - 1 RM is 150 kg. Technique wasn’t what I wanted it to be though. Good numbers, still subpar performance. Lockouts were too shaky.

1 round: 2 @ 100 kg - 2 @ 60 kg
1 round: 3 @ 100 kg - 3 @ 60 kg (2 vipers)

I did pull my left erector a bit on set 1 and my shirt was so soaked afterwards that in combination - It was very difficult to do vipers.
3rd round was excellent.

Comp weight. Good.

Honestly my body feels like it’s made if glass. Everything is sore and heavy. So I switched to -
Box: 8 @ 102 kg

Seriously - bambi on ice! Cut it here because I desperately need to recover more

2 yoke zercher carry (turn on the spot after a lane)
2 x 2 lanes @ 125 kg
2 x 3 lanes @ 125 kg
1 lane = 8-9m

3 behind the back hold
2 x 30 sec @ 100 kg

Decided to listen to my body and quit for today.

Despite cutting huge chunks of volume, I’m not recovering. I might actually cut out a whole training day till after comp (this one).

Had to fight some anxiety attacks after the workout. I am spread thin right now and need to watch my capacities - in and outside the gym. There’s s lot of stuff going on and it’s in summary not even the case that it’s all bad. But the next couple of weeks and month are going to be crazy and the fact that I’m starting to feel it as soon as now, worries me.
I did regulate down successfully for now and didn’t suffer a panic attack though. I know I’m gonna be fine and am as well equipped as I could hope for to deal with this.

I’ll take tomorrow off and deadlift Wednesday. That will decide if I am entering the comp or not.
My lower back is giving me trouble with tightness and nagging, which was a major issue today because I was lacking extension in the dip.
Also I am stressed out and have been eating really shit after I initially made some noticeable positive changes to my physique. That’s a pity and I need to clean up my act while keeping that part as simple and stress free as possible.
