Trained in Dresden today. Found a lovely strength club with very welcoming people and even some strongman equipment!
My body is of course pretty beat up from all the hiking(!) and traveling (and pub-going yesterday). So I didn’t expect much. I combined the most important aspects of my fri + sa workout.
1 strict log press
5 x 3 @ 91 kg
Didn’t use a stop watch today.
2 one inch deficit deadlift (power bar)
3 @ 195 kg
4 x 3 @ 200 kg
Didn’t use a stop watch today.
3 single arm farmer’s walk
5 x 15m @ 86 kg
4 incline db bench press
2 x 8 @ 40,5 kg
1 x 7 @ 40,5 kg
5 seal rows
3 x 8
Had a lot of fun training today. Loved the place and people!
I feel a bit stupid sharing that many pictures of a simple trip but here you go @Bagsy@dagill2
I absolutely loved my trip! Solo travelling worked out greatly, although I gotta say I liked solo travelling through the nature a lot more than to a city and won’t necessarily make a lot of city trips on my own. Not as appealing. I met some interesting people and greatly bonded with a guy from South Africa with whom I spent a whole day and we were both were surprised about well we connected.
This trip did some real good my psyche, which had to take some hits lately. I even got some more bad news while away but the state of mind I had there helped me cope a lot better.
So anyway here we go with a picture dumb. I also included a video compilation of snippets I took (because one can’t upload videos here directly).
Hike 1: Basteibrücke and Schwedenlöcher (Bastei bridge and Sweden holes - used in the 30 year war to protect/ hide cattle and goods from the invading Swedes).
Okay it seems like I can’t do anything about the picture size. Video quality will adjust in some time. Sorry for anyone that’s not interested. Just skip past and we’ll continue with strongman.
Thanks so much for sharing! I’m glad you had a nice time. You’re making me look even more forward to going back to Germany. Hopefully I can check out the nature a bit more. I’ve always wanted to visit Dresden and visit the national park nearby, so it’s like you read my mind!
That’s so cool. Traveling solo enables a lot of interesting encounters with others that I don’t think traveling with friends, family, or a partner can match.
I actually love traveling solo in a city though. I’m more inclined to meet up with someone if I am going to do a major hike, though solo is never out of the question.
I’m glad you enjoyed them. I can wholeheartedly recommend this particular part of German nature. It definitely ticked all of the boxes for me. Just an incredible experience right there, without having to travel to the alps. I also picked the perfect time because while I had to endure some rain and less perfect weather, I saw very few people even on the more popular trails.
Beautiful! I really need to get back to Europe and do some more exploring. I stopped in Dresden for a day when doing a train trip up through Europe and found the city amazing, stopped in a tiny, delicious kebab shop that had a picture of Merkel with the owner (lol) and found myself at a fantastic park that was springing with life.
Oh that’s so cool! How long will you stay? I personally appreciated Saxon Switzerland (yes, that’s the actual name of the region I hiked in) more so then the city of Dresden but it definitely is beautiful there.
I’m planning on staying there for ~a month. I’ll probably be mostly staying in Munich since that’s where dad’s friend is, but there’ll be plenty of time to go around to cool places
