17.12.

Sleep was shiiiiit the last two nights. 0-2 hours last night because I slept at a different place. The night before my drunken flatmates kept me up. Nap mode engaged after work. You can sleep when you’re dead. I need to sleep though. I am getting old.

Meant to be a triple. Turn out you need to sleep to make progress. I am still furious! I instantly lost position on those pulls and didn’t maintain tightness at all. I tried to muscle through with hatred and anger and it did not work.

2 @ 125 kg - because I was pissed and I don’t know. Threw a tantrum and stuff.

Notes:

  • I forgot my pants. My mate had some but they were basically skin tight under armor “pants” about 2 inches longer than my boxers. It was also the gym’s Christmas party that evening and the gym was full, while I was looking like I was expressing some kind of fetish. For some reason I thought about @Cyrrex a lot throughout the session.
  • god damn I was pissed.

18.12.

Sooo yesterday we were hosting a get together. Fuck me, those people had endurance. So I again stayed up super late (5 am) and went into this session with a good hangover.
On a whim I decided to get revenge and try the top set again. I told myself I would focus solely on technique, no hype up and go up to top weight if all feels manageable (after all, the DOMS and fatigue are real).

2 @ 180 kg

Very clean lifting! Kind of easy even. Yeah don’t ask me, I don’t fully get it either. One factor was the empty gym today. I feel much better going heavy when there aren’t many people around.

2 11" deadlift (with the deadlift bar, cause it was already loaded)
3 x 5 @ 180 kg

I skipped RDLs to spare my back and hams at least a little bit after all of this.

Notes:

  • this session made me very happy! And also incredible tired. My body feels pretty shocked right now and the rest of the weekend will be spent mostly in bed or on the couch.

This week has been pretty crazy. Positively that is but incredibly exhausting. My body is feeling it at a 12/10 today. Only a walk and hot bath on the agenda for today to stimulate recovery.

21.12.

My lower back/ posterior chain are not fully recovered from the weekend. Sleep was once again sketchy to no fault of my own. Tomorrow I’m getting the next vaccine, so I will skip that day.

Side effect are there but not nearly as bad as the first two times.

My arms sore, but that might be the navy seals.

Also I have the plague, but I had that before as well, so it isn’t new

The booster wasn’t too bad. I think it’s half dose (at least here in the US)

Tk be fair though, I barely had any side effects from the first two doses

My shoulder was pretty sore after the second dose, but I remember doing 3-400 push-ups the day before…

Think about the time of day at which I replied to you in my log, and that might hint at my answer :sweat_smile:

@anna_5588 I haven’t heard about the dose size. That might also have to do with the time between shots. My second vaccine was 7 months ago.

@Bagsy 11am in my part of the world. I never think of time zones when I’m on here so it didn’t immediately ring a bell, haha.

Throughout the day I wasn’t feeling too bad at all. But then at night I got shivering chills, laid under 3 blankets with clothes on until I finally took 800 mg of ibuprofen at 3 am.
This morning I feel fine.
So I’m a little on the fence about training today.

I’m sure there are cases in court history where people have been convicted of attempted murder with less convincing evidence than this one.

Made the last minute decision to not train today. I feel it would be a gamble if I tried to deadlift heavy today. Since I likely had a fever last night, it’s probably best to wait out another day anyway. I really hate to shuffle my lifting schedule around like that. It’s already friday and I have lifted a total of one times this week so far.

Merry christmas folks. I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones, enjoy great food and drinks and continue to crush it in lifting and life. I appreciate you all.

The holidays (christmas, new year and my birthday) have been a bit hard for me for a number of years now. I am doing better this year than I did last or the one before that. Yet, I can’t help myself getting into my own head during this time. I don’t suspect this to change significantly and that’s okay. The worst part about it seems to be the guilt you feel because you’re supposed to be all jolly and heartfelt and loving and whatnot. You don’t want to let the family know because you don’t want to ruin their holiday experience. It’s really not that bad this year in particular but I guess I have lost my holiday spirit for good and need a mask to participate up to the perceived expectations of others. I’m like the GOAT of wearing metaphorical masks, so it’s not that difficult necessarily and if I sat at home pretending this wasn’t the holidays, I’m sure I would be exponentially more miserable. So maybe time to count my blessings or something.
