Cheers mate!

I pulled something in my left glute during the second set of front squats yesterday. Nothing major, it’s just an annoying reminder of how much your glutes are involved in day to day activities, haha.

1 rdl (beltless as always)
3 x 8 @ 135 kg

2 power jerk (went beltless)
4 x 5 @ 100 kg

Felt like toy weight honestly.

3 strict press
1 x 7 @ 80 kg
1 x 8 @ 80 kg
1 x 7 @ 80 kg

4 sl hip thrust
4 x 8 @ 27,5 kg

5 incline db row
3 x 12 @ 25 kg

Notes:

  • finally made a training session happen with a guy I’ve been in contact with for months now via instagram, who made me join that gym in the first place. Our schedules align terribly but today we could make it work. He is one of the strongest German powerlifters in his class - did like 580 lbs for 6 in sleeves recently and competes in the u105 kg in the ipf. Can’t hurt to have him around as motivation. I mean other than my ego (of course he is also younger than me).
  • that was the reason I didn’t do the regularely scheduled log strict press and log row.

01.06.

1 oh squat
4 x 6 @ 60 kg

2 power jerk
Last warm ups
1 @ 110 kg
1 @ 120 kg
1 @ 128 kg

0 @ 132,5 kg - great start
2 @ 132,5 kg - missed third
2 @ 132,5 kg - best set, didn’t try a third.

Plan was 1 x 3 @ 132,5 kg

3 front squat
1 @ 132,5 kg - failed 2nd
1 @ 132,5 kg - failed 2nd

Abandoned mission. Plan was 3 x 2.

4 pull ups
3 x 5

5 hollow holds
3 x 60 sec.

6 assault bike
10 rounds @ 30s on/ 15s off

Notes:

  • this was garbage. I’m gonna eat my plate empty, get my head right and uset this as fuel to go full fucking mental!
  • I asked my coach to switch my heavy oh day to the forst training day because I felt like the fatigue was taking too much away. I don’t know if that was a mistake or if I fucked up for other reasons
  • 2 x 2 @ 132,5 equals my best effort ever (from last peak) though. So nothing to dwell on in general. I’m better now than I was still. And I need to prove that.

Those are still some pretty great lifts mate.

Yeah nothing to lose sleep over. Due to the switch my last heavy pressing day was just 4 days ago.

SI joint area feels a little tender from yesterday.

1 deadlifts (power bar)
3 x 4 @ 192,5 kg

2 log lift (clean once)
3 x 2 @ 108,5 kg

Should have been sets of 4.

3 vertical jumps
5 x 3

4 floor press
11 @ 105 kg
10 @ 105 kg

Stuck

5 bent over row
3 x 8 @ 105 kg

Notes:

  • deadlifts felt harder then expected but moving well on camera. I’m curious to see how much switching back to the deadlift bar will affect my pull.
  • SI was a problem on the log lift. Clean was hesitant and I didn’t really push hard during the press in fear of leaning back.
  • Back in general proved to be a bit sensitive today. Luckily the rest of the week is pretty chill (got knocked down a bit compared to last week even), so that will even stuff out. Nothing to worry about.
  • you can’t win them all. This week might not be mine but I don’t care about the results until the whistle blows.

On the plus side: I you squint a little I kinda look like I lift (but skip calves).

Just when I am starting to feel good about myself and its a stark reminder that I need to keep my foot on the peddle and work harder.

Deadlifts have been on the back burner this cycle but I’m really excited to push them again! 250 for this year still stands.

crickets for a couple of days. Everything OK big guy ?

Yeah mate, just had my usual two days off. Personally still a bit down in the dumps but nothing severe. Also I picked up a little cold but symptoms are very local, so I’ll continue to train with this one (confirmed no covid).

Good to know it was just a break. Not good to hear you a a little down but I know you well enough by now to know that isn’t unusual. Are you getting much summer there yet?

Not enough yet but weather is starting to pick up, haha! Corona regulations are also getting less restrictive so that’s something to look forward to. Especially now that I’ve had my two vaccinations and am a first class citizen.

Yeah still a frustrated, lonely little sad sack. Don’t know exactly why that is as pressing and present for me as it is right now but overall still doing okay.

I’ll take that.

I always thought you were first class mate
