My suspicion that I am getting sick is growing. As always in this case I was debating whether to stop training or continue as long as possible. I asked my coach and he said to stop now, chill a few days and then go instead of continuing for a few days but being knocked out by next week.
That is the mature thing to do but it sucks big time.
So no training now for the rest of the week and hopefully I will be good to go then.
Smart call. I have some silly bug in my body (not Covid) that just won’t… in Swedish we’d say “break out”. It’s like, a simmer. It’s not burning bright, but on a low flame. From experience I’d say it’d stay around for a solid month even if I were to pull in the reigns on training and become a video game aficionado and couch potato. So, I’m just training, thinking that either it breaks out and I actually get to be sick and recover, or I get some slightly less optimal recovery. Staying away from extended bouts of cardio though, as I don’t want it to migrate into my heart or something which I know can happen. But handling intensity seems fine thus far.
Same over here.
Your approach is usually the one I would take as well. However when I get sick, I usually get really sick! So if taking things slow now gives me a chance at avoiding that, it might be worth it. Easier said than done, since training is such an important part of my life. Paul said he understands how I feel but through his own trial and errors he thinks it’s not worth it to train now and mess up future training sessions.
I think I’m going to be good and re asses the situation in a few days.
I know what I said and I had every intention of following up on it. But then I just lost it being angry and stressed and needed the training for stress relief. Let’s hope I won’t regret my choice in a few days.
1 deadlift (deloadish)
Up to
2 @ 140 kg
1 @ 170 kg
3 @ 190 kg
2 squat
3 x 4 @ 157,5 kg
Rip pants
3 vertical jumps
5 x 3
4 meadows rows
SKIPPED - wanted to keep things short outside. Won’t make or break anything.
5 aleknas
4 x 10 @ 2x5 kg plates
Notes:
- I received two potentially good news yesterday. That makes me really suspicious and cynical. Yup, that’s how fucked me brain is by now.
- did this session really quick so I could get back inside and under the shower. Reasoned with myself that’s the responsible thing to do.
- weights felt heavy but that’s nothing to lose sleep over since it has been the same in every deloadish scenario ever.
- my plan is now to skip tomorrow which would have been a really heavy log session that I’ve been looking forward to, then relax over the weekend and don’t get sick and then fuck up some weights next week
Looks good. Are thoes pickled cucumbers on the side?
Sure are. My home town pub serves omelett with pickled cucumbers, so I do the same. ![]()
@doomyguy - you’ve probably mentioned it before, but are you not from the States? I just realized that I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone (Americans) call them pickled cucumbers.
Well do share
After calling over 30 therapist’s offices, I might finally have a lead on an opening. Welcome to the best healthcare system in the world, lol.
Also I’m going out on a date for the first time since the fall of the Berlin wall.
That’s really nice. I feel you about healthcare. Been having some heated discussions with friends where we are all on the same page about how it could be better but we are just so frustrated it becomes heated.
Cool with a date. I hope that works out well for you. If you ever find yourself wanting to discuss navigating relationships when there is a mental health component going on simultaneously we can do that here or over email.
Hmm… can’t really imagine the flavour combo, but one have to try it I guess ![]()
Nope, I’m Danish. Not sure what the correct term is - they are small cumbers which are pickled, yes? What do you call them?
Cornichons?
But that are the small ones is it not?
Thanks, lets not get carried away about relationships, haha. I haven’t been on a second date in a loooong time (by choice). I am a bit damaged from my previous experience, I suppose.
I did however mean to write you again!
Same as you over here in Germany. Either pickled cucumbers or seasoned cucumbers (not sure why tbh). In certain parts of Germany, where they are produced, they have all kinds of names for different variation, I hear.
I’m with @doomyguy here, haha. I know the terms but only ever heard them for the real tiny ones.
I’m confused
Even smaller, haha.
Ok, my bad, was not clear.
What I meant was:
Normal cucumber - 20-30 cm length
Small cucumber - what Koestrizer showed on the pic
Tiny cucumber - no 2-3 cm in length = Cornichons
Then again wtf do I know, do rarely eat other than the normal ones ![]()
There good on top of basically anything on bread. Like bread - cheese - pickled cucumber.
