Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

Good point. And again: poor wording. I didn’t mean to say (even though I did) that you’re strong for an old fella.

Late merry christmas/happy holidays brother.

How’s study going? Any goals in mind for 2021?

As long as you’re the strongest in the house, all is good.
Then shoot for strongest on the street - workplace - suburb

Same to you mate.
Currently on holidays but I need to prepare for exams. Studies could be a lot better as I’m very unmotivated and unfocused. Not doing too good health wise but I’m still getting in some anatomy stuff. Need to buckle up a bit for the next week.

Goals for 2021:
Deadlift - 250 kg

Power jerk - well the goal remains 140 kg but pushing past that would be good as well because ai think the 140 will happen relatively quick into the new year.

Squat - don’t know if I’ll get to push this. Let’s say 210 kg raw.

Log - 125/ 130 kg

Some smaller goals (no idea if I even get to persue them):
Front squat - 160 kg

Bench press - 140 kg

Stone load - 130 kg

Axle clean and press - 130 kg

And also compete as much as possible, depending on if we hsve competitions and all.

Happy new year’s eve people. I sincerely hope you have a good new year and crush it in life and lifting!

It’s been a weird day thus far. Barely got any sleep at night until I had a few hours in the morning. Upon waking up my heart rate/ beat felt all over the place and it didn’t come down so far. Plus I feel sick on and off. I’m pretty sure it’s psychosomatic but weird if it’s presenting without any anxiety related thoughts. Like a failed start of the nervous system. Nothing really new but scary. Needless to say I didn’t use a lot of caffein before my workout, haha.

1 squat
3 x 5 @ 147,5 kg

2 deadlifts
Up to
1 @ 167 kg
1 @ 190 kg
3 @ 205 kg - PR!

3 box jumps
5 x 3

4 meadows rows
3 x 10 @ 32,5 kg

5 aleknas
4 x 9 @ 2x5 kg

Notes:

  • squats felt really light and easy for some reason. Best squats since starting them again.
  • well a deadlift PR is a deadlift PR. Always good to hit. My straps sllipped and I had to readjust before the third pull. That made it a little harder than necessary.
  • despite how I felt/feel, this was a really great session to round out 2020! Weights were moving perfectly :ok_hand:. To provide some perspective: Before my 225 kg pull my heaviest sessions were 3 x 2 @ 197,5 kg and 2 x 2 @ 205 kg. Seems like I am already stronger than last peak.

After that infrared sauna. Now a little bit of studying and than it’s eating raclette, drinking whisky as if I was sponsored by Jack Daniels and playing cards with my parents. Lockdown does indeed suck this time a year but what you’re gonna do, eh?

Might as well just pull 250 next session! Looking good

Okay really important cultural question. Especially for my European friends:

Do you know what is depicted here?

I’ll explain later but my family was wondering if this is only a German thing or if this is as popular in England in particular.

@alex_uk @dagill2 ?

I assume you’re a few JDs in.

I’ve got very vague memories of an old Christmas comedy film that I’ve never seen but I was told is a tradition in some European countries. Am I way off base?

This doesn’t ring a bell for me but I haven’t watched TV in many years. Here in france it’s usually Astérix or some Louis de Funès movie ahah

EZ peazy lemon squeezy… Congrats and happy new year!

You’re assuming wrong, haha. My parents were wondering about this and I responded: “hold on, I’ll ask some English guys”

Thanks and same to you!

But no, that’s about as good as you’re getting from me.

About the date, yes. It’s a silvester sketch called “dinner for one” or “Ms. Sophie’s 90th birthday”. About the rest you’re on point. This is as traditional as fireworks on silvester. There’s no new year without this short film.
Check it out on youtube, it’s in English and from the 60s. Probably not as hilarious if you don’t associate childhood memories with it but still very fun.

All of that rings a bell, but I’m completely at a loss for why. How long is it? Might be my evenings viewing.
