Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

U front squat not than me lel. Gonna be af carryover to what u can cheat overhead

You mean less than you? Can’t make out that sentence, haha.
Yeah I hope it has a carry over, although I am not sure. A lot of people say so but I don’t know if that also counts for cross grip. I suspect a much less deep front squat with more weoght would have a better carryover but that’s just a theory. Anyways it can’t hurt to get my front squats stronger for overall strongman purposes.

U front squat more

I am not going to watch your front squat video, because I feel it will only encourage you to do more front squats.

I wouldn’t have guessed that judging from your regular squats.

He says that about lots of shit, and turns out it is only because he simply isn’t doing those things. It’s a trap. He is doing it with the press, too.

U r wise beyond ur years

06.08.

Today was a busy day. Slept a grand total of 2,5 hours due to the heat. Had to leave early for physio and work. Met a friend afterwards and we stuffed our faces with a very cheesy pizza. Then drove straight home to train under a certain amount of time pressure. After that it’s back to the city to meet another friend. Very tired.
Asked coach if it was a dumb idea to train three times in a row. He responded he trains 6 times in a row each week. Show off!

1 box squats
3 x 3 @ 160 kg

2 box jumps
5 x 3

3 step ups
3 x 5 @ 60 kg (per leg. Alternating)

4 strict log press
3 x 5 @ 78 kg

5 hip thrusts
3 x 8 @ 145 kg

6 lat pull down
3 x 10

Notes:

  • gotta give our man @t3hpwnisher a shoutout today. I read about his session following a 12 hous night shift without a nap and that inspired me to pull through today despite the fatigue, lack of sleep and stress of the previous days.
  • doing squats and step ups the day after front squats and lunges is kinda hard.
  • all in all this went as well as it could have. Pleased with it. Had some doubt about the strict log and I nearly messed up set one but set 2 and 3 were very strong.

Man, here’s hoping you figure out how to get some sleep, sounds like it has been rough lately.

Dude, stress and exhaustion leads to PRs, have you learned nothing from the way of the piggy?

I had a 140kg overhead and 140kg front squat for a while. Not super unusual. It will work itself out as you progress on the movement.

Yeah mate, quite a handful of health related things aren’t going my way recently. The lack of sleep can’t be helpful.
The special thing in my situation is, that there is often times no telling if a certain symptom is of psychosomatic or internistic nature. That said if the origin is psychosomatic it doesn’t make the symptom/ sensation any less real.

Hell yeah dude. One of the best things about training while exhausted is you can’t feel any WORSE through the training. Sometimes, you even just go full on delirious and start feeling better, haha.

or pain just doesn’t register. I dropped a barbell on my foot after stubbing my toe once. I only felt it slightly after remembering it’s “supposed” to hurt

This happens 90% of the time for me whether or not I’m deliriously tired

This sucks, but good work for staying the course and keeping up with the training! Lots of strong work going on in here.

When do you think your back will be up to fully testing out the deadlift, or will it always be a cautious movement for you? (Sorry don’t know injury history).

Right now I think my back is as resilient as it can be. I’m in a really great spot with that!

Testing out the deadlift will happen in the near future. I think in about 4 or 5 weeks?

Cool look forward to seeing what you can do, hot any targets in mind?

I mean coming off of an injury and half a year of lifting between 60 and 75%, it seems greedy to expect any good PRs. But lately things have been really really great, so why not aim big?
5 plates and 225 kg/ 500 lbs is the goal. Not sure if for this max out or this year but it doesn’t seem impossible at this point.

In case you are wondering and because you’re new to the log: Yep, my deadlift is that low relatively to everything else, haha. But I’m working on it.
