Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

Well technically I was alone for most of this and am usually all alone. Although not by choice! I’d really like some training partners.

Even alone, being in a gym with space and equipment and that feeling, is still better than me on my Pat Malone in a 5m x 5m shed (garage)

Yeah I can definitely see that. Did gyms close again in kangaroo land? I’ve heard that regulations were tightened up again.

Only in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. So only one city. We are having a pretty big peak of cases right now, well big for down here. It’s a bit frustrating seeing friends from other states like Mark and Kleinhound back in the gym, but with the cases of COVID right now I am better off isolating and keeping to myself.

You’re lucky you even have access to real weight. I’m stuck here with two kbs and a paint can :joy:

Yes I am sorry if I came over as unappreciative that wasn’t my intention. I am so lucky to still have a full gym and love it dearly. I just miss the big gym.

Nah, I didn’t get that vibe- just wanted to vent
I definitely miss my 6am gym crew on uni and even the borderline creepy trainers in Shanghai :joy:

1 hour walking through the forest. Befriended a small deer for a short while.
Moving the shoulder around a bunch and I plan on a little bit of rehab rotator cuff work later. I am thinking around the world shoulder raises, external rotation and cuba rotations (also external). Those movements felt right on the shoulder without resistance, so they might help speed things up.

How did I get a job as a creepy trainer?

Learning mandarin would be a good start :joy:

01.08.

1 Tire flips
10 sets of moslty 1 rep, a few doubles and a triple.

2 kettlebell throws

At the beginning I worked with the small 8 kg kettlebell. I progressed to the unmarked kettlebell with a longer grip, which apperantly is easier to throw (10-12 kg I think) and also tried the 15 kg one. Then I found a smaller 12 kg kettlebell and focused on that
It definitely got better and better the more I tried but holy shit, this is difficult!

Enjoy the awkwardness of me trying to figure out wtf I’m doing:

That was entertaining! Good to see you improved and you didn’t hit yourself in the head either!

Yeah on a few of those I thought “should I be wearing a helmet for this?”, haha.

That looks so much fun man. Why does anyone do powerlifting when strongman is a thing?

Well last year a guy approx. that height won our second league. Just saying.

There was a funny photo from one contest’s award ceremony where he stood on the 1st place pedestal and was still shorter than a few of the competitors.

How tho?

He is an absolute machine. Also still weighs about 120 kg or so. Never seen legs and booty that big on a man. Incredibly fast and athletic guy. Unbeatable on yoke and things done for reps.
