Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support!

@alex_uk no rugby posts (wildly unpopular sport here, haha) but maybe they’ll let me use the cross thingy used for pole vault.

For some strange reason I thought you were at a rugby club, complete failure of reading skills!

Also is rugby less popular than strongman over there?

I’d say that’s a close one, haha. Although more people are aware of the existence of Rugby

Why is rugby so disliked? Is it just be because football gets all the love?

Yeah I wouldn’t say it is disliked per se but people aren’t big on it. No media coverage, very few clubs to take part in it yourself… and yeah, football.

Neighbour celebrated his birthday last night. So sleep was an issue. Nutrition as well since I forgot my snacks for work.

1 deadlifts
3 x 3 @ 180 kg

2 box jumps
5 x 3

3 incline bench press
3 x 6 @ 92,5 kg

4 leg curls
4 x 8

5 pull ups (banded)
4 x 6

6 incline db row
3 x 10 @ 32,5 kg

Notes:

  • I think this might be the fastest 180 kg has ever moved. Quality stuff. Was pretty aggressive going into it. Wasn’t necessary but this is tje heaviest I’ve pulled by a good bit since my injury in February. I want to take this minute to thank everyone on here who has contributed to my comeback in any way with advice or talking sense into me or encouragement. I’ve tagged Mark on insta and want to also specifically mention @FlatsFarmer as well.
  • incline turned into a near death experience once again, haha. Set 2 was the grindiest but that wasn’t caught on camera.

Fatigue from yesterday was there. Lower back and hip area was a little tight (not painful and resolved itself once I got moving but when you come back from injury you’re sensitized to these things and need to learn trust in your body again). Front delts were sore from benching though, haha.

1 push jerks
3 x 3 @ 117,5 kg

2 front squats
1 x 3 @ 117,5 kg
1 x 2 @ 117,5 kg - bar rolled off me.
1 x 3 @ 117,5 kg - cross grip

3 reverse lunges
3 x 6 @ 55 kg (per leg. Alternating)

4 pendlay rows
3 x 8 @ 85 kg

5a db shoulder press
3 x 11 @ 32,5 kg

5b hollow holds
3 x 35 sec.

Notes:

  • felt the fatigue on jerks but the weight itself is no problem at all.
  • front squats were a disaster. I don’t have the mobility to get into a decent front rack and as soon as I lean forward a little bit, the bar is off to destination fucked. Went cross grip on the last set because my wirsts were hurting. Much easier! Front squats are worse than burpees!
  • db presses were a solid rpe 10, lol. Yet I still improved again from last week!

Slept a grand total of 1 hour.
I couldn’t get to fall asleep all night. Not anxiety related as far as I could tell.
I am not sure what caused my sleepless night but I have had a hard time falling asleep these past few days as well.
Could be delayed stress and anxiety, could be my new medication (it supposedly has no influence on the sleep cycle but one of the side effects listed when starting it is insomnia).
Work schedule is not helping either (late shift - early - late - early - late. Seriously?!)

Yeah this isn’t going to help recovery today.

I really hope so my friend. For you as well of course.

Much better to spam your log with talk of food and drink…

Hows everything going?

It’s a wild wild roller coaster lately, mate. Just not as fun. But no one has fallen off so far, so I guess I’m not navigating the ups and especially downs too poorly so far.
I am experiencing side effects from the new medication, or just from piled up stress, which is unpleasant.
The up side is: In 3 weeks I’m gonna go on 2 short trips and will have 2 weeks of vacation! That should definitely help.

No news on the tumor, so I guess that is kind of on the back burner for now.

Training wise everything is going pretty damn good despite those odds. Looking at a comp in September.

Yer i read you were going to do a comp. Cant wait to see how you go. From what I see on IG your lifts are looking pretty good right now, especially over head.

This really cant be good, but it seems your are coping with it as best you can and moving forward, which has to be a win.
a vacation sounds bloody good to me right now. Wish I was going too.

Did you just invite @Koestrizer on a couple’s retreat?

@Koestrizer I don’t think I would know you’re struggling with stress etc. if people didn’t ask you, which is a pretty good indicator that you’re handling shit well in my book.
