It actually isn’t. The facility I train in is an old factory building in which they used to make cheese.
Weirdly enough the 3500 people village I live in used to have two cheese factorys.
One of those made Harzer cheese (Harz = mountain region here). Thst type of cheese is very popular with bodybuilders nowadays because it literally has 0 carbs, 0 fat and 20g of protein.
I used to go there regularely as a child with my grandpa. He was very well known and respected in the village and liked to get his cheese straight from the factory. So we would go there every couple of weeks and the workers would always give me some cheese to snack. Good old times!

Cool. It is still a cool name. Is that cheese any good in terms of taste? Seems tough without fat.

It’s very special… You can smeel it three meter against the wind, haha. Usually it is made with caraway seed ingraned in the outer layer of gray/ mold (not sure of the correct translation).
I personally like it but most people find it disgusting, especially the younger generations.
I eat it with mustard and it tastes pretty good. There are a lot of nuances to it, especially the texture depends on how long it matured. Still you can get it pretty much in every supermarket in Germany, even Bavaria. So it can’t be that unpopular.

I really love strong, smelly cheese that lots of people do not like, so sure.

But that’s what I meant with the cheese factory methaphor. It’s the sweaty, smelly place you go to produce your stuff.

I think we all feel like this sometimes man. Sometimes you feel like a titan and perform like a baby deer, and sometimes you hit a PR on three hours of sleep and a stomach ache.

You could always try your deadlift approach on push press - train it light, low volume and fast and hammer the assistance, then slowly add in supplemental work

I’ve somehow missed your log K, for the most of a week or so.
That 140 kg was close, I think Flats did an excellent job breaking it down.
It seems like you got a coach, but if you didn’t I would have suggested just the start of the lift with 150 kg or so, gives your body a chance to feel the weight and you have to push really hard to start the lift. So a couple of doubles or triples just pushing the bar up to eye height or something like that.

Anyway it’s going to be fun to see what a prober coach can do for you.

  • Let’s just not talk about it and close the door behind this dumpster of a training week. I know what I did wrong. Now I have a few days to recover and then the journey with my first coach starts.
  • I still enjoyed my journey with box squats very much. I don’t know how the coach thinks about them but I’ll surely bring them back at some point. Thanks for your guidance, @flatsfarmer.
  • the medley was gruesome. Especially on tired legs. Proper punishment for my mistakes.

I had the first good night sleep this week. I woke up feeling well rested and like I actually slept.
That said I had a dream that was feeling very real and it’s content was really horrible to me. I woke up feeling like smashing my head into the wall to get the images out of my head.
The rest I got was not worth it if I feel horrible starting my day and basically feeling like ‘fuck this, I need a drink’ at 6 am.

That really sucks. I have very very vivid dreams that aren’t always pleasant.

I too have had similar experiences before but it never made me feel as horrible as it did today. It’s like my subconscious is trying to break me. Not like that isn’t often the case when I’m awake but damn…
