120 x 6 is no joke mate. Nice work
Great work indeed
120 was my old deadlift 1rm… and 3x my press 1rm ![]()
@simo74 thanks buddy
@anna_5588 thanks!
Well it’s all relative. I’m literally 3 times your bodyweight, haha.
relative strength is overrated ![]()
Thanks, I’ve been saying that for years, haha. It generally seems the lighter people get, the more they disagree ![]()
That said I have been competing against men as heavy as 190 kg. I’m not heavy compared to the average of my competitors.
Time for a dirty bulk ![]()
Oh shit that wouldn’t go well!
I’m actually trying to lose a few kilos atm.
Strong as fuck pressing in here K. Well done.
Another thing about strength is that when you’re getting stronger you don’t see it and realize it.
You just see that others are stronger than you, therefore you’re not strong.
But when you’re pressing much much more than the average male even the average gym goer, then you have to believe it, you’re freaking strong.
Big press daddy
Whens the big 140kg day man?
I want to live vicariously
Thanks guys @guineapig @mortdk!
@dagill2: I’ll go for it in about 4-5 weeks but only if I feel that I have a real shot. Next week is 110, then 120, 130, deload, 140
As one of those lighter persons…
Nah, I think the problem is that we try to apply the same word to different things. “Strength” should probably be defined the way you define it. I think we just use “relative strength” because we don’t have a better way of describing what someone is capable of doing as compared to their weight and/or at speed. Usain Bolt probably has fairly shitty “strength” in his legs…but what he has instead is something none of us can remotely compare to. Power would actually be a better word, except that it has already been reserved for an entire sport that is ironically still about strength.
11.05.
Started Kroc’s squat program today. Or rather the progression model. The rest is altered to fit better into strongman.
1 box squats (briefs + sleeves)
5 @ 150 kg
5 @ 160 kg
5 @ 170 kg
2 farmer’s walk “8’s” (something @strongmanvinny2 introduced me to and I am not sure if I want to thank him for it or find some… less friendly words)
3 x “until grip was at 90% done” @ 65 kg per hand (no belt or chalk)
3 bulgarian split squats
2 x 8 @ 40 kg
Notes:
- I worked on actively pulling myself down onto the box as instructed @flatsfarmer. I think this is a skill that needs practise. Especially coming down at just the right angle. I suppose the briefs are helping with learning that because they provide some actual resistance on the eccentric. Not sure though as I have no comparison. I feel like I didn’t do a bad job with the faster descent but I am not sure if I sacrificed my knee position to a degree?
Thinking of the gyms I go to, he’s pressing more than most people squat or deadlift lol
Interested in seeing how this works out for you.
@mattjp I woul’ve liked to say “you need to go to better gyms” but realized that the same is true for me.
@dagill2 me too! Today felt a lot easier than I expected. No problem strength wise, only the pressure in my head could’ve stopped me from doing more reps. People joke about 5 reps being a lot on squats but on box squats it really is a lot! Probably because you have to brace longer at a time, idk.
I wasn’t totally happy with the rep quality throughout the sets upon reviewing but we’ll get there. Interestingly the later reps on each looked closer to what I want them to look like.
Interview went well, I think. Will get notice in about 2 weeks.
Appointment with the endocrinologist went… I don’t know. The doctor is a lot more thorough and wants to find out what’s causing my bad results in the first place. She was also quite irritated that the urologist already gave me testo gel after “only that?!” To quote her about the quality of testing, that was initially done.
She wants me to lose weight because one of the numbers depends on bodyweight (ouch!).
They also drew blood and I will hear back from them in about two weeks.
To find out if the chemo was really the reason for my hormone disfunction, she also wants a cat scan of my head. I should really refrain from dropping plates on my head until then.
Immediate plan for now:
- Take blood today
- Hear from them in 2 weeks, possibly another blood test in the morning if this one shows flaws.
- Possibly pause the trt hel for 3 weeks and do another blood test
- Cat scan at some point
- Possibly higher dosage of testosterone. She also likes the gel for men my age but we discussed children (they can’t test here) and injections aren’t off the table.
I’ll just wait for what happens, not a lot more that I can do.
Gotta love that slow progress… Over half a year at this point on the hormone front alone. And no end in sight.
The main issues I’m hoping to combate with this in the first place are persisting for more than 5 years already. At this rate, I’ll equal you decade of guessing around, @Voxel.
Sorry if this is out of line, but what happened?
It isn’t, I have always been pretty open about my medical history on here (luckily so because I got some good advice here and there).
I’ve had leukemia as a kid. Been treated for it from the age of 8 (?) on for 3 years.
The drugs that chemotherapy consists of can have a severe impact in later life (which I wasn’t told). Top 3 of side effects in long term survivors: Hormone disfunctions, liver disesases and depression
