Is this a double entendres and are you bragging :joy::joy::joy:

In that case I would’ve said that I was the one with the two hand sword. Otherwise I am not sure that would be something to brag about :joy:

The pain in my hands is already getting better. I expect a quick recovery path. That said, I couldn’t hold anything heavier than 300g in my right hand yesterday, nor can I grip smaller objets (because of pain, not loss of movement). I’ll probably do some leg training this week (I’m thinking ‘Frankenstein’ front squats and the two machines I have access to). I might be able to do upper body in about a week but I’m not sure if I can train with the threads still in.

Maybe lots of banded good mornings, should help with the back.

Great idea. Also lying leg raises.

and add in some banded leg curls to pump up the hamstrings and you are good to go.

I can actually use a real seated leg curl :stuck_out_tongue:

I love these. Zerchers too.

Zercher squats is what my mind went to first as well. Don’t know if you’ve done them before, elbow sleeves help with the discomfort at higher weights.

All good pitches guys, I’ll keep them in mind.

Longish walk thorugh the surrounding forests. Enjoying the beautiful weather. Just trying to stay active and even if it’s a very light effort, getting my cardio in.

Walks do wonders for recovery and state of mind.

Who needs hands anyway?!

1 frankenstein front squats
Up to
2 @ 80 kg
1 @ 100 kg
1 @ 110 kg
2 @ 120 kg - could have comfortably done more.

Ok let me start by saying I haven’t done front squats with any consistency in recent history. That said, 120 kg would have been a PR even with a normal grip and for a single. As I said this was not at all maximal. Pretty hilaruous and a sign that things are going well.

2 zercher squats
8 @ 60 kg
8 @ 80 kg
8 @ 100 kg

I don’t like these. My elbows get in the way of my legs or maybe the other way around.

3 high bar squats
5 @ 60 kg (without hands. Cool IG circus trick)
2 x 8 @ 60 kg (only touching the lowest end of the plates with one finger each)

4 unilateral leg extensions
3 x 12

Notes:

  • to get out of the house more I decided to split training in squat and deadlift day (well, more good morning and such)

Great workout. I like what you did with the “heavy” front squat. Slightly more than you did before for a small PR, with plenty left over for next time. Not strenuous enough to disrupt your training, but a record so you’re happy and confident. Perfect!

Your hands could have really derailed you, instead you found a way to get some work in. Silly no hands high bar are probably a great little move for tempo and control of your squat.

It seems like you’re right in the Fun, Productive Training zone.

Thanks for the kind words man. That is a pretty accurate summary of my plan for this week.
I know if I didn’t do anything remotely exciting during this time of injury, it would weigh a lot heavier on me and in turn would probably derail my training even more than the injury itself.

Forgot the injury update in my log entry above. Hand is still getting better by the day. It looks like the wound on the left is already fusing together. Doesn’t really hurt or impede movement.
The right one is basically still open completely and only held together by threads. So I really need to be careful to not tear that open again. I can grip heavier objects again (and need to be cautious not to do that). Smaller objects are getting better as well.

Sorry to hear about the hands Ko! Hope they heal up quick for you. I understand the urge to compact all the cans together lol.

Haha finally!!! Although I’ll probably refrain from that in the future.
Also: Thanks man, I’ll be back on track soon I hope. My sister is an intensive care nurse and she is monitoring my wounds closely. She does estimate based on the depth of the cut that it’s gonna be a little while longer but as I said day to day life is getting much easier again!

1 axle deadlifts
5 x 3 @ 106 kg with 10 sec pause between sets.

Used the axle and my figure 8 straps. With this setup, I could keep my hands completely open and only a few of my finger tips actually touched the bar. The weight was supported on my wrists. Worked pretty well all things considered. I wouldn’t try heavy weight witht this but today actually called for these exact weights. So a perfect match and I didn’t have to miss anything on my deadlift rebuild plan so far.

I am so fucking clumsy! Guess what happened?! I stumbled and in a reflex used my right hand to catch myself on the wall before falling. It hurt a bit but not too bad. When I set up for the reverse hyper, I noticed that my hand felt kinda wet under the bandages… Rushed home and sister inspected the wound. The hand is open again and some of the threads ripped. Bleeding stopped very quick, so it looks like the deeper parts of the wound are already fused.
Currently on my way to the ER. They will have to decide if they want to sew it again.

They wouldn’t sew it again, but use a a special plast to keep the edges together. I will need to see a surgeon again next week for a check up and will have to start antibiotics starting tonight.
That little stunt today will make sure I’ll have a pretty big/, ugly scar but I personally don’t care whatsoever. I just want to have my hands back in working condition as soon as possible.

Then you probably shouldn’t be doing stupid things that’ll tear the wound up.
Hope the hands will heal quickly though.
