While United Healthcare itself doesnāt directly own hospitals, it is part of the United Health Group which does own a significant number of physician practices, surgery centers, and pharmacies through Optum, essentially allowing them to have influence over doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies within their network.

An interesting caveat, also discussed, is that total cost is higher in the USA, and itās because healthcare costs which are covered by insurance are so much higher that even though socialized countries do demonstrably pay more per, our lower percentage is still overwhelmed by the cost of care itself.
