Not exactly. Was Hitler insane or mentally ill? No one can definitively say he wasn’t. Is calling for the elimination of an entire race based on lies and irrational beliefs, insane?
One of the things the Nazis tried to do was prove that the German Jews did not support the effort in WW1. Their own research found that Jews served in the military at a disproportionally higher rate than non Jews. They then tried to show that they didn’t serve in combat in high numbers but again, they found that Jews were overrepresented in combat units. Yet, in spite of these facts that they themselves came up with, Hitler saw them as the enemy within who betrayed Germany, causing it to lose WW1.
Was Hitler mentally ill? He clearly suffered from some sort of trauma, perhaps losing WW1, and needed to blame someone. The antisemitism which already existed provided a scapegoat for his personal and for his people’s failures. A healthy individual doesn’t plot the genocide of an entire race based on irrational beliefs. The worst part of this revisionist view of Hitler is not that it makes him a human vs an evil monster, because he was a human. It’s that it supports the idea anyone is capable of being Hitler. This is false. Yes, monsters are men but not all men are monsters.
My statement wasn’t a moral judgement. All hard evidence points to Hitler being entirely rational within his ideology/Weltunshaung.
He was also a better strategic mind than his generals gave him credit for.
His middle initial was H however.
The problem is, his ideology was based on the irrational. Every lunatic behaves rationally in the world his mind has created.

This is why racism is stupid. If you lock a golden retriver, a chihuahua, a labradoodle, and an irish wolfhound in a room for 10,000 years you’ll just end up with a bunch of medium-sized brown dogs.
I don’t know who needs to read this but when people demonstrably fail to understand topic subject matter, spend hundreds of posts projecting strawman arguments and poor logic instead and finally devolve in to “but Hitler”, it’s ok to bow out and let them have the last word. You can’t argue with people bought in to a retarded ideology and closed to any further input. It’s a pointless waste of time.

I normally agree, but the discussion took this turn when I brought up busting historical narratives regarding Marxist propaganda. As I’m known to do, I can get carried away backing that point up.
I’m only saying DSA are more like Nazi’s than Republicans are, and it isn’t particularly close at all. I’m not saying they are Nazis and or even fascists.
They don’t need to be either of them when they have named themselves for us. Democratic Socialists.

I mean, I finally got zecarlo to tell us what side he’s on, after saying same stuff on both sides for over a decade now. Just a few months ago I asked him point blank to explain his beliefs, and he was unable to. It all makes sense now.
After all the ridiculous exchanges over the years, I’m not ashamed to say it made my morning.
