Pec Tear...?

Thanks for the input fellas.

I have using GHRP-6 TDS since the tear… unsure if this’ll help or not but it can’t make it worse.

I tried 225 on the bench yesterday, just a single rep to see how things felt. It wasn’t painful as such, but there was a definite pinching sensation telling me to “just be careful”.

Gonna leave it for another few days and try again.

This sucks because my bench was really starting to pick up steam. Lesson learned I suppose.

They have a “sports massage” person at my gym. It’s not ART, but it might be worth a try I suppose until I find a decent ART dude.[/quote]

I would seriously suggest leaving it a bit longer than a few days. I’d interpret that “just be careful” as “let me heal please”. I know it sucks laying off but a complete tear and having to have it reattached would suck a lot more. It could be the pec major dettaching from the tendon (Layne Norton had this) rather than the usual tendon tearing from bone which is what usually happens, doesn’t sound like it in your case - always looks completely fucked, bruises the lot. Most likely the pec minor though, agree with bbb.

Take it easy!

I know, I’m my own worst enemy. I was just testing it with 225 as my training partner was warming up. I got the tear doing 405lbs from a deadstop on pins, so I figured 225 was a nice gentle “test”. Turns out my pec still doesn’t like it much, lol.

In other news, hit a dealift PR, and tore another callous off… AGAIN!!! So I won’t be able to squeeze a bar properly for a week or so now.

Things just aren’t going my way!!!

Hey - I can still do calves

Hmmm nice PR but yeah maybe you should take it easy. Sports massage is not ART, you need and want genuine ART Dave

BBB,

Can you give some tips on how to effectively massage the pectoralis minor? I’m on the way to becoming a massage therapist, but we haven’t learned any particulary useful “tricks” to get to the pec minor very well.

Thanks.

What was your PR?

Managed to get my close grip bench to 190kg/428lbs a while ago, and it’s been stuck floating around there for ages. So, I decided to start pressing from pins set at my chest instead, to take away the stretch reflex and make it harder. Just managed 405 on that when I got my injury :frowning:

Feeling a lot better though now guys. Pressing is still out for a while I think but generally moving about is a lot less painful.

Callouses have healed already… result!
