I assure you Sloth you have not seen anything yet! If the press feels that Romney could beat their hero it will be a scorched earth policy all the way. They will play the race card to the hilt among other things. Will their be a backlash from middle America? Who knows? Certainly one is long over due regarding this racist nonsense.
I also think Ryan is helping make inroads into younger voters (there are bunch of articles about him helping win the Generation X vote, as he is one of them, and that trickle down impact to Generation Y, millenials, etc.). I don’t think there will be a youth “wave” for Romney/Ryan, but the bad news for Obama is that youth voter enthusiasm is already down, and he can’t afford to lose any of them - but it appears he might.
It makes sense - Obama represents naked, self-indulgent Baby Boomer politics, and Generation X is famous for rejecting Boomer habits and politics. Maybe, just maybe, the election of 2012 will be the revenge of Generation X against the Baby Boomers who think they should grow fat and happy feasting on the future of their children.
Maybe, just maybe
What Thunder said.
"A Zogby/JZ Analytics poll Tuesday showed increased support among voters 18-29 for the Romney ticket, which pollster John Zogby attributed to the Ryan pick. President Obama received just 49 percent of the youth vote, versus Romney’s 41 percent. (Obama took home 66 percent of the youth vote against McCain in 2008.)"
Yeah, that’s a hefty drop off.
"For those who think those numbers are an anomaly, take a look at Pew’s 2011 polling that found that among 18-29 year olds, 46 percent supported Ryan’s proposed Medicare changes with only 28 percent opposing (the rest had no opinion). Among 30-49 year olds it was 38 percent approving and 36 percent opposed. The strongest opposition to Ryan’s plan comes from those over 65, who ironically won’t even be affected by his plan since it would only apply to those 55 and under. Pew found that age, not party identification was the biggest predictor of how a person would feel about his plan."
If they can pound home the message that those folks 56 and up would see no changes, Medicare becomes a winning issue for republicans.

Thank god for the red heads voice, otherwise I would hate that I spent 3 mins of my life watching that douche.
kinda reminds me of this. Except this dude uses actual historic events, not made up bullshit.
This is a must see video for anyone who has found themselves in an argument with a liberal who is mischaracterizing the republican party.

Romney’s religion and how it plays in this election is certainly not off topic. And I predict the main stream liberal media will drop a Mormon bomb if it looks like Romney has a chance late in the race.
We say it every time, but THIS IS the most unique and divisive election at least in modern times for sure and maybe ever. The reds can see the finish line in their campaign to destroy this nation. It IS war. They understand that. Unfortunately many of our citizens do not. There are no rules of engagement to them. I actually respect that. They are clear in their mission and committed to victory.

Zeb and Tiribulus:
You DO realize that a large portion of Mormon vitriol is produced, directed, fueled and spewed, often from the Pulpit, by Religious Conservatives, right?

Yes, and you DO realize that the main stream liberal media does NOT want the Romney/Ryan ticket to win…Right?
You DO realize that a large portion of Mormon vitriol is produced, directed, fueled and spewed, often from the Pulpit, by Religious Conservatives, right?
Mufasa
I promise you I know more about Mormonism than 95% of practicing Mormons. I have spent more time with them personally, including missionaries WHILE on their missions and have read and studied more Mormon literature than anybody in these forums or who you are likely ever to meet. I have been hired to teach congregations about Mormonism, the WB&TS, Word of Faith, mystical new age religious heresies, and a few other lesser anti Christian errors. Though all of this was a while ago now. At the risk of sounding exceedingly condescending and arrogant, neither you nor anybody else around here will teach me ANYTHING about Mormonism. If I tell you that’s how it is? Take it to the bank. THAT’S HOW IT IS. And I can prove it. I now return you to your regularly scheduled point missing.

You supported my point BEAUTIFULLY, Tiribulis.
I would venture to say that the majority (not all) of any Anti-Mormon “bombs” that get thrown at Romney/Ryan were produced in Religious Conservative Factories and Armories.
"Americans’ aversion to voting for Mormons has spiked since Mitt Romney’s first presidential bid in 2007 ? and the people most wary of Mormon candidates are not Evangelicals, but rather political liberals and non-religious voters, according to new research from a leading scholar of anti-Mormon attitudes.
The overall increase in anti-Mormon attitudes among liberals may be an unanticipated consequence of the “the continuing candidacy of Mitt Romney and Mormon activism against same-sex marriage,” the study suggests. And its findings may be alarming to the Romney campaign because among the study’s other findings is that voters’ perceptions of Mormonism are closely tied to whether they’ll vote for him.
According to American National Election Studies, nearly 35 percent of national respondents said in February they were “less likely” to vote for a Mormon. That’s up nine points from 2007, when Pew found 26 percent of voters expressing concern about pulling the lever for a Latter-day Saint.
The uptick in anti-Mormon voter attitudes may come as a surprise to those who predicted Romney’s candidacy would have a mainstreaming effect on his faith. But as University of Sydney scholar David Smith, the paper’s author, writes, just as President Obama’s successful candidacy didn’t put an end to tense race relations in America, Romney’s political assent hasn’t cured the country of anti-Mormonism. In fact, as the data shows, Romney’s rise may have lead to increased anxiety about his religion among his natural political opponents.
According to the paper, concern about Mormonism has remained relatively stable among Evangelicals, with 36 percent expressing aversion to an LDS candidate in 2007 and 33 percent doing so in 2012. But among non-religious voters, that number shot up 20 points in the past five years, from 21 percent in 2007 to 41 percent in February. There were also substantial increases in Mormon-averse voters among liberals ? 28 percent in 2007 and 43 percent in 2012 ? as well as moderates, who went from 22 percent in 2007 to 32 percent this year."
Then I misunderstood your point and stand corrected. Yes, we produced the weapons and well should have. Actually they handed them to us. If those wapons are stolen and used by somebody else, that is beyond our control. However, most evangelical Christians, including my own church which is largely black will not attack Romney for president based on his Mormonism any more than they, including me, will attack Ryan based on his Catholicism. There will be some simpletons who will do this. I do not believe it will be even close to a majority.

I mean plainly stated, clear as the KKK, anti black theology.

Naw…Tiribulis is a man of VERY strong conviction that I don’t think I could trick into anything!
Back to Romney/Ryan.
While I think that it is very smart that Romney refuses to “take-the-bait” on the “taxes-paid” issue…he is STILL not defining himself well nor what his vision is. (Again…maybe the Convention and the post-Convention period will be the best time for him to do so).
