Wow, fine buns and baby animals all on one page - lots of win! And well done on the deadlifting. As for hula hooping - yeah, I can’t do that. Lot harder than it looks!
You should try it with the kids at school. They’ll love it, it’s like playing but also really work coordination and your core. We do a lot of weird stuff like try to hoop standing on one leg, trying to use two hula hoops and occasionally we’ll actually run around the gym while trying to hoop. I drop my hoop a lot, but the laughs are fun.
I found this vid, way more advanced than me, but mesmerizing.

Hula hooping! I’m trying to work with a lighter smaller hoop, it’s a lot harder! We worked on a trick where you lift the hoop off your waist and then step into it and keep hooping. I had to do a lot of running across the gym for my hoop, and hitting myself in the face. I’ve fully embraced not giving a fuck in that class, and it’s a blast.
I was super tired after, so made it short in the weight room.
25lb KB swings aimed for 100 it was in sets of 20,40,40
A1) Inverted rows 10, 5x3
A2) Incline pushups 10, 5x3
Exhausted after, the whole session can be summed in one conversation:
Text to my brother: 100 KB swings. I actually threw up in my mouth a little.
His response: That’s what winning tastes like.
Thursday AM: Spin
Thanks Kev.
Ugh, it’s been so long since I’ve regularly done any MA anything. Nothing fits into my schedule, and there aren’t any BJJ clubs close, even at school. I think I’m going to have to start one, just to be able to roll. I’ve done some investigating, the problem is going to be mats. There aren’t any to use on campus! Tatami is really expensive, but I think we’d need something portable so it may be the only option.
I’m slowly working on it. It just sucks to have to build my own thing. I really just want to go to a class and be a student.
Fantastical Weekend!
I didn’t do much workout wise, but it was lovely and relaxing. I put the diet on hold, and all work on hold. Of course now I have so much to do, but I feel a lot better about everything. Play time really does make for better work time.
I hit some BJJ, and asked a lot of questions about Self Defense drills I can do with out mats. I found a buddy with some BJJ experience and he said he’d work on stuff with me, so I think we’re going to be the start of a BJJ club at school. To be an official club I need to round up 7 people, but starting with just the two of us at least get’s things started.
What we went over: (if you’d actually like details on any of them, let me know, these are primarily my triggers)
Shoulder grab
-bent arm, shoulder lock
-straight arm, standing arm bar
Post on Chest
-wrist lock by grabbing their elbow and bending into it
Straight arm rape choke
-grab wrist with both hands and turn for arm bar
Two handed neck grab from behind
-grab his hands, pivot into him and wrist lock
Grab shirt
-hold wrist, lean to the side, step to their outside, and wrist lock
Grabs hair
-hold hand close to head, same as rape choke
Bear hug with arms in
-post hands on waist (don’t wrist lock yourself), move to T position
Bear hug arms out
-base, get heavy, put hands under his chin, push up then knee to ribs
Against wall rape choke
-push out his hand towards elbow bend, knee to ribs
Against wall shoulder pin
For all of these I need to keep in mind being realistic as possible. Getting proper base should be the first part to all of these.
Sunday was more BJJ, but it wasn’t ideal. I ended up with a brand new girl, and you guys know how I feel about working with new women. It meant no details for me, because a lot of what we did was based on the other person’s reaction. Her reaction was often to just fall over. Ugh, floppy white belts. We covered a lot though:
Hip Bump sweep
Arm drag from butterfly
I had to start heading back, and didn’t have time to roll. It was just nice to be back in my gi despite the floppy.

Monday AM
On 4 hours of sleep, I just went to roll around on the foam roller and LX ball. Hours in the car hurt!
PM
Went to the grocery store since I didn’t over the weekend. Next year I need to buy halloween candy I won’t eat. There’s a bowl of twix hanging out and I keep eating baby ones. Not Good!
BAHAHAHA “Floppy White Belts”
I luv it lulz

There hasn’t been much BJJ in this log, so I haven’t harped on it, but they are literally floppy. Normal default mode for a female is, I push you, you fall over. I push you harder, you fall over harder. This is not conducive to being a good BJJ buddy. The whole idea of BJJ is to get better at doing things when the person fights back. If I push you and you don’t fight back, the games over.
I specify women to pick on, but men have their own host of issues. For the most part though, when you push a dude, he won’t just fall over. He’ll at least try to stand his ground.
I used to get the same crap with Thai Boxing. When I did a class that was all guys (save me) I could do contact sparring and I’d get the stuffing knocked out of me but it was good fun and the guys didn’t mind if I hit them in the face. But when my local gym started a class (now finished, since the instructor left) it was almost all women and all hitting pads. It was fucking dull so I quit.
all I saw was Hip bumping…
meow!!
haha that is funny. that is one of the things i’ve noticed about myself. i used to be careful to walk around people in crowds. now i stand my ground kinda braced expecting unobservant dudes to bump into me sometimes. i’ve noticed that some guys seem kinda surprised that i don’t simply defer and stay out of their way. not sure how i’d go being shoved, though. big eyes has served me well in the past lol.
Hmm I might have to test your theory, but first perhaps I should learn how to knock someone over properly, and how to stand my ground for when the push back.
Yep I have the same thing on buses & planes. When I see a guy coming to sit next to me, I make sure to take up some extra space, because they always have to spread their legs like they have to let everyone know how huge their balls are. But walking, women have issues with getting out of the way too, especially if there is a group of them, they have to take up the entire path, I make sure to bump them, ya know just so they know.

ALPHA LOL CAT.

Aw Sheeet. I’m a bully. SRS. Esp with women. People get out of my way. Period.
Don’t know if its so many metal shows over the years… OR JUST BEING ALPHA AS FUCK!

Just wanted to confirm that I received your donation and will be sending the sexy people shortly. I need to find something to ship those in so you don’t get them all busted and folded.

Oh Cal you caught me! I have to admit, that when it comes to hitting I fall back into girl mode. That probably makes it worse doesn’t it? I know I should be able to but I really don’t like to hit or be hit, so I just use the giggly girl stereotype? If it’s any consolation, I only pair with equally giggly girls for and sort of stand-up/MT activity. I know how much it sucks to be with a shitty partner.

I’m glad you’re learning to stand your ground. I think Powerful Women is aptly named because of these sorts of transformations that occur. When you lift, when you regularly challenge yourself, it does make you feel powerful. It’s impossible not to feel like a boss when you leave the weight room after a PR. I think a lot of people don’t have anything tangible like that.
