Ummm sir you should read your own post

X, aren’t you the guy who kept arguing about how important height was when determining musculature? So, couldn’t one argue that those guys that TheDon12 posted would weigh quite a bit more if they were taller? Therefore, how can you argue that they aren’t ā€œbig enoughā€ just because they weight under 200? They are all very short, so I would say they are big as hell for their heights.

You posted pictures of guys all under 180lbs.
So height doesn’t matter all ppl better be above 200

They are also contest ready but we know you don’t care about that either
How many times have I written that the question as who reached a high body weight with extreme muscularity?

NEVER!!!
It’s too late, this thread is gone and I’m all aboard the Lulz train.

Those guys all were extremely muscular. They were just able to do it without getting to a high body weight. I think that is more impressive than what you have done.

They are big FOR THEIR HEIGHT. Now that we have that out of the way, where are the guys who gained to a much higher body weight who were not really short?

Shorter limbs have less muscle to fill out. That is why the taller a lifter is, the more effort it takes to really fill out.

Picking guys who are 5’5" (which is extremely short) seems to be missing the whole high weight issue.

Sorry, I was using a dictionary. I thought bigger meant, you know, bigger.

If I have a big truck, does it mean it has more muscle? Bad example.

If I have a big steak, does it mean it has more muscle? Damn, another bad example.
So on a site like this…someone had to tell you that bigger meant the more muscular guy?

This makes me think no one is looking at you in those terms.
Could you please provide at least one example of someone who is natural (as far as we know), who bulked, then cut down to a bodyfat percentage lean enough to see at least 4 'ab’s?

I’m really only interested in seeing the comparison between that and the examples provided earlier of those who stayed relatively lean while gaining muscle mass.

Definitions per above:
natural = no prohormone or AAS usage
bulked = gained weight as both muscle and fat, and reached a point where they could no longer see any ab definition at all

They were under 180lb because of their height and contest shape. During the off season their well above 180lb.

Most natural pros now a days do not recommend going on this dirty 3 year bulks of not staying lean to gain the most amount of muscle. Lets not act like a natural doesn’t know a thing or two about getting huge.
LoRez wrote:

I thought we were talking about 10-15% or less bodyfat.
Why? I can tell how muscular someone is at ā€œgasp 16% gaspā€.
Why?

Because one of these days I’d like to be a much larger version of myself, at 10-15% bodyfat.

I want to know whether I’ll get there faster via the ā€œlean gainsā€ approach or the ā€œbulk and cutā€ approach.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.

But that’s why I care.
I know thats why you care. I’ve tried both approaches myself. Bulking is best for rapid gains. It’s just common sense, give your body everything it needs and more and it will grow. Once you’ve built up a base of muscle and conditioning, then the game changes a little bit. You can stay leaner eating the same calories you were once bulking with. So the increase in calories as a percentage of your total intake is less.

Heres a fact. You need adequate glycogen at all times to maintain cellular hydration, since this acts as a light switch for protein synthesis. You also need insulin, since this is once of the most anabolic hormones your body has. This is even more important when you’re natural. No insulin equals no growth. You get a higher insulin level from eating more food, be it from fats, carbs or protein.

Dairy is insulinogenic. That means it stimulates a higher insulin response than the sum of the carbs, fats and proteins that its made from. Its actually much higher.

If you can’t get your head round that and grow, then nothing will help you.

Ive posted old time strongmen loads of times now but ill refer again to arthur saxon. 5 10, 220 and lean (not by competitive BB standards). Read up on what he used to eat in a day. This was before steroids even existed.

All the old time strongmen ate a shitload, trained a shitload with compound lifts and thats about it. They weren’t counting calories, macros or monitoring their 300 extra calories for the day. Or carbing up, or going ketogenic or anything. Simples

I’d love to hear someone from this time period telling them about lean gains and how they should just eat chicken and salad and watch him laugh in their face, then one arm bent press them.

Them bin natural alone doesn’t mean shit.

This is about what makes YOU alone huge. You only follow what other people do if it works for you.

Yeah, I don’t think X quite gets it. Must be a reading comprehension issue. If all of the guys listed were in off season, I imagine they would weigh quite a bit more. Also, wasn’t one of them X’s height, a bit over 200, and really lean? Hm, seems pretty impressive to me. I doubt X would be boasting much better stats at the level of leanness those guys were at. He has no plans to compete, though, so that is irrelevant and can never be proven. Oh, well. Mighty convenient for X.

Also, for the record: I’m 6’1" and 243 pounds. Nothing great. However, I did reach that weight in a little over a year from about 180. So, about a 60 pound gain. Thanks for pointing out how challenging that was at my height, X. Nice to see that you aren’t afraid to acknowledge others’ progress.

Boycot!!!

@MassiveGuns-This has never been about whether or not an individual is giving his body what it needs to grow. Do you really think that, just because someone is lean gaining, they aren’t making sure they are feeding their body right? Seriously? They just aren’t overfeeding it in some futile attempt to force more muscular gains. Bro-science much?
