Papaya’s are always around but I never took to eating them. I just bought Whey protein for my first time and found out that Papaya contains stuff particularly good for digesting things like protein so I’m starting to eat them. How much papaya would be smart to eat in a day or week and should I eat it before taking the protein, after, or its fairly irrelevant since I’ll be eating it regularly? (I take the protein post-workout)
Then sort of the same question with Avocado, I know its a healthy fat source but I also know all fruits contain sugars and whatnot. Is an Avocado a day too much?
They’re both very inexpensive but I want to be careful with the insulin spike it may cause especially since I finish my workout at around 6:30 and eat dinner around 7. Was eating an avocado and papaya with my dinner a bad idea?
I dont have a lot of experience with eating papaya, or a lot of knowledge on the fruit in general. However, from what Ive found it appears to have a pretty low glycemic load, which would make it an okay carb source for late in the day. After an intense workout though your body can handle just about any carb source.
Avocado is a pretty ideal food for late in the day. Your body processes fats better at night, and avocado has lots of good fats. Plus, it has a solid amount of fiber too. However, it might not be the best choice post-workout since the fat in it will slow protein absorption.
Coconut oil also contains a lot of good fats, especially of the saturated variety. So treat it the same as you would avocado.
Good question. And I’m glad you 09ers are asking the questions some of the vets are afraid to bring up.
Eat your avacados and papaya less then 30 minutes apart from each other, but give it at least 15 minutes. You don’t want too much of that healthy fat at once or else it’s not so healthy. Protein shakes in between the avacado and papaya with one more avacado in between sets of quarter squats in the smith machine.

This protocol is great but I hate having to peel the avocado in between sets. Then I usually throw the enormous pit at the nearest person.
