Nope.

That’s called “getting old and having more injuries than you can count on all your fingers and toes.”
Yep. It isn’t like it makes sense to expect him to look the same into his 50’s. He had fucking 23" arms at his biggest. That shit ain’t easy to maintain.
agreed

what the hell do people expect coleman to look like?

the only thing that looks ‘bad’ is that his arms are pretty small

-he doesn’t train eat supplement or juice anywhere near the level he did in his prime
-he has had tons of injuries pushing himself to be the greatest BBer of all time
-he is getting older

the post about arnold looking good 6 years after he retired: he retired very young, he had a good 50lbs less lean tissue than ronnie, he moved into acting where his physique was his sole selling point so kept up training drugs etc as much as possible

some of the ‘vets’ posting really don’t know what the fuck they are talking about, sorry iron dwarf but you in particular really stand out in the BB forum as having no clue.
If you are talking about me in relationship to this “Ronnie and Palumbolism” debate, I will gracefully accept your thoughts here. I am definitely making an assumption on what Palumbolism is, and quite frankly it is quite true I don’t know what it is. Just wrote down what some other thoughts were here with regards to “possible” rationale that I’ve humorously read elsewhere.

Yes, I do work out and have been following bodybuilding for 16 years.

Continue to wonder.

Also, I’d like you to re-post something I’ve said that would raise the suspicion of not being involved in lifting and nutrition. Also, please explain how pointing out glaringly deformed physiques indicates someone might not be involved.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I dunno man… I rejoined this forum and agreed to be on my best behavior and act kindly to people, even if disagreeing or debating, or at least not go overboard. I can understand someone not liking some posts here or the thread itself; if that’s the case, fine; say so and maybe even explain why. But I don’t understand the why a rude comment directed at me was made or a question of if I lift or not, especially considering I’ve lifted with people from this board and one VERY popular poster is my neighbor and I have attended a show of his as well as that of another poster and was considering competing myself this coming Spring til some things in my life started interfering.

I REALLY don’t want to “e-fight” with anyone considering at this point of life I don’t have much time, emotional room, or inclination for it. Nor do I get off on hurting others, even if that might be on the net. I used to be a rude, childish jerk on the net (and sometimes in person), but deep down I was and am a sensitive person and I’m sorry for that inappropriate behavior.

So next time someone wants to “start in”, I might reply, but I’m not gonna take part in some bash fest. A challenge? Perhaps. A shitstorm? No.

The post thread was not made to ridicule competitors (some of whom I highly looked up to as a youngster), but rather to discuss a disturbing phenomenon in a culture I’ve followed for a long time. Hence why I posted “The 90’s” thread, because I think that was the last era in which the aesthetics and best of the genetic pool was present.

My friend, some folks are just that way; and in no way am I implying it is wrong. Heck, all of us are prone to bursts of communication that is mixed with belligerence towards statements or opinions we disagree with. On the internet, it is very easy to be blunt and respond with bravado, especially to things one disagrees with. The art of debate these days often is done at the lower baser levels…maybe because oftentimes it is too much trouble to do it any other way! :slight_smile:

Part of the territory…we need to have thicker skin methinks. It’s amazing…sometimes you meet folks who were belligerent or “rude” to you over the phone, and when you finally meet them, they are the coolest people! I think this is particularly true of people on the internet as well. Example: some will read Prof. X’s posts and get offended by his straight talk and perceived vitriol…but I have a feeling if one ever met him, he would be a hoot and one of the coolest guys one could meet.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful post.

It dawned on me some time ago: why the heck would I want negativity associated with what supposed to be an enjoyable hobby? Some disagreements and challenges and bickering aren’t harmful, but I don’t think rude comments are cool or funny anymore. In my immature days, I did; now I don’t, like REALLY DON’T.

I too think X is probably an alright guy in real life despite his posts sometimes mildly vexing me (not a big deal).

You’re right, communicating in a diplomatic way (even when disagreeing way) is more difficult than cheapshots. Easier to say something rude than say, “Look man, I dunno why you made this thread. What’s it for? I find it offensive because…”

Lolz Gregorz. It is from the movie “The Grey.” The director wrote it.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Thanks for the kind words!

Whether I lift ( I do as my old injuries allow) or not has nothing to do with my knowledge and experience with the BBing culture for the past 30-some years - especially on issues dealing with the visual aspects of the art/sport.

Thanks to Brick and KK for their support!

It often doesn’t take a science or medical degree to make a visual assessment of something that looks completely out of the norm. My opinions are my own and I’m sticking to them.

Now, excuse me while I go check the mirror. I just turned 50 and I have to see if Palumboism is creeping in.

lol

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.” -F
