Come on vroom you’re a bright guy you can see how the media handed obuma the victory. At this point that shouldn’t even have to be debated it’s obvious.
Mick, for a while the media could do nothing but focus on Reverend Wright… playing the clips over and over again. Headhunter was happy during this period…
The problem isn’t that the media didn’t focus on all the issues that it came across, but the issues that you’d prefer people to care about didn’t get any traction.
Sorry dude, sometimes it rolls that way.
Anyway, Palin was a magnet for media attention because she fucking well deserved it. There was no way she had any ability to step in as a competent president in the event that McCain were to suffer some type of issue.
This, after McCain made absolutely fucking clear that he’d go and find a candidate that would be ready to be prez on day one. Somehow, country first turned into win at any cost, and the media managed to keep hammering at the flaws and inconsistencies.
It’s appropriate.
Except for radical right wing bullshit, there was much less realistic material to focus on in terms of Obama. The “palling around with terrorists” bullshit was really just a pile of crap… and the fact the media reported it and it got no traction, for example, isn’t a fault of the media.
What I was hinting at above, which seems to be missed, is that the election was lost because the message coming from the repubs was a farce. Nobody could answer a question. The campaign spun all over the place. Palin was not qualified in the eyes of the vast majority. What in the fuck did anyone expect to happen with all that bullshit going on?
The job of the media is not to focus on whatever either party wants them to focus on.[/quote]
I disagree. It looked like, to me, that the media purposely propped up all these weak arguments against Obama in an effort to make it look like he had no skeletons in his closet.
The Rev Wright thing wasn’t a very strong case on Obama, but the media ran with it. Ayers was a weak case on Obama, but the media ran with it. Even the Madrassa he went to. Weak arguments.
This makes Obama look good, because people will watch this stuff and think “Well, if THIS is all they have on Obama, then he MUST be a good guy”
Kind of like reverse psychology. It made it look as if Obama was the real underdog, with the racist, bigoted media and the nazi wing of the Republican party throwing anything they could find at Obama.
Makes it look like Obama’s campaign was an entirely uphill battle from day one. When pretty much everyone knows he had this thing sewed up a long time ago.
