I likely wouldn’t have continued past the first reply had it not been for the jab at critics. I was on a sleep-deprived, semi-drunk ordeal through a 50+ hour continuous live stream I joined half way into, and I made it my business to respond with force in defense of a group I identify with personally.

I’ll probably not reach close to potential unless I’m violently drunk, of which I’ve long since given up, but I’ll try to keep up appearances as best I can.

Thank you for the kind words!
Hey, well I could tell I struck a nerve. The truth does hurt after all.
Any particular reason you’re being a dick?

Just curious.
Isnt it obvious
If you want to stop waving your dick around and get the ruler out, we can have another sparring session. And then once you’re worn out, let the thread get back to it’s roots, Cap’n. Or we can leave it for other people to voice their opinions, as it’s intended to be. I apologise to the spectators for having to endure another shitshow, I however, do not apologise for the things I had said to our dear Cap’n.

No need for a shit show.

I don’t claim to speak for big K, but I doubt either of us is going to find any common ground on the value of media critics.

Lanky, truthfully, it’s just fucking fun. I thought Big K’s impassioned defense of a group of people I find revolting was worthy of some dick moves.

Now with that. I’m done shit slinging in this thread.

I was mostly implying what had already occurred, as opposed to if it, god forbid, started up again.

Fair show, as open-minded as I try to be I find myself too indebted to film to really parley over it.

That’s funny, I thought your dick moves were worthy of an impassioned defense of that group of people.

Alright, truce, maybe we can come to agreements in the future and be bestest buddies, I’ll make no assumptions either way and let the cards fall where they may.

Is this like the end of Return Of The Jedi when Vader does something super cool for Luke and they hug and become friendos?

Super nice of you though, I’m sorry I went off also.

The movie was alright. Not too great but not too bad either. Some points:

 1. They do this thing, where every so often a character narrates his feelings (like the in the trailer). I personally enjoyed having intermittent commentary of a character when they needed to explain a mindset or plot point, but I can see how other may feel it to be annoying.

 2. Everyone in the plot is a douche except for the cop. The cop should have been a douchebag, as well as his wife. Being reminded that there are actually good hearted people in the plot only serves to make every other character look more like an asshole.

 3. I felt like the movie tried to do too many things. “Criminals vs. The Law”, “The Rich vs. The Poor”, “The American Dream”, “The Fitness Life Style” - There were too many themes that were really jumbled up.

 4. As a followup to 3) The movie tried to be funny and serious at the same time. It would have been better served being more funny than serious. I could have seen this movie taking a tone similar to 21 Jump Street.

 5. The Rock was decent IMO. I think he played the part of the innocent meathead well, but the jesus loving crack head was a little much.

I agree with you on all 5 points. I enjoyed the narration provided, i felt it was key in helping Michael Bay tell the story, and if theres one thing i feel he accomplished in this movie, it was properly telling a story.

Also, the jesus loving crack head was a bit over the top for sure, but Rock owned it pretty well, especially considering this was a role unlike any other he’s played.

I still think even with the hiccups in his characters persona that his performance was the best.

The movie definitely tried to do too much and never really settled into its own stride or developed its own identity. I agree it would have been vastly more enjoyable had it leaned more towards comedy rather than straddling the line. The characters would have been more affable and many of the plot points that ultimately became frustrating or annoying would have been more acceptable.

Saw last night.

My thoughts:

-I agree fully with the above “trying to be funny and serious at the same time”. It felt kind of awkward at times. Then I remembered that this is a TRUE story but also a ridiculous story. I can imagine if somebody told me this happened to a friend of a friend of theirs, I would be laughing and in horror at the same time. Marky-Mark was on Howard Stern the other day and said that they left out a lot of stuff because they didn’t want to make light of the situation/crime and also because they did a lot of awful shit.

-I think Michael Bay was a great choice for director. A director who’s greatest work was in the 90s directing a movie that takes place in the 90s. As a result, it had a nice old school vibe the whole time.

I was dissapointed. It left a lot on the table in regards to being funny. The bodybuilding references were quite off but I wasnt expecting much. The breast milk part was hilarious though. The barbell crushing that guys head really bothered me… Like a lot

I remember the breast milk days back in the 90’s. Colostrum was all the rage.
I LMAO at the “you ever suck on a pregnant woman titty?” line. Because I have*, and it’s amazing.

*Technically post-partum, which is what he must have meant since the milk usually doesn’t come in til after delivery.

180? Hes at least 200lb in that pic

just arrived this weekend on Brazil and i loved it.

Although i would prefer a movie about bodybuilders robbers than robbers bodybuilders if you know what i mean.

Definitely gonna buy the BD when it comes out and i hope it makes a huge success around the world, The Rock and Mark Mark were awesome.

I thought this movie sucked. I really wanted to turn it off, but decided to stick it out.

I watched it last week and it was good for some light entertainment. Had to laugh when the Rock was barbecuing the hands! “This is still a true story” ha!

Saw it 2 nights ago. I thought it was really funny. There were a lot of lol parts, I really like the neighborhood watch scene. Rock was great as a cokehead.

Hard to believe its a true story.

i laughed my ass off during this movie. The rock was great, marky mark was great, the other black dude was funny as hell. Overall i would recommend this movie

I was too busy being confused about what kind of movie it wanted to be to find it particularly funny.
