Pacific Rim is the first movie I watched where I wanted to say “holy shit this is a good movie”, numerous times.
The action sequences are cool and well done, the acting solid, the story is gripping. this movie has lots of layers, it can be seen as deep and beautiful. Transformers does not even deserve to be compared to this movie.
One thing I learned is that Idris Elba is British. Everything I’ve seen him in before he has had an American accent. Well I guess in Thor he had an Asgardian accent.
Loved it. IMO the best part of the entire movie was when they finally took Gypsi out for the 2 on 1 fight. Ibis put on a great performance, but same couldnt be said for alot of the cast.
Saw it in IMAX 3d as well Steel. Sensory overload orgasm.
btw, the two scientists(one played by charlie day) going back and forth was so enjoyable.
Take it easy fellas. What he said wasn’t that bad (he didn’t call me a child; read it again), and what he said is mostly true. I am a grown man and I do have a raging hard-on for this movie. Seriously, you could hang drapes from it (really narrow ones anyhow).
I might debate calling it a child’s movie, but then again my 11 yr old son is pretty fucking fired up about it too. He will definitely like it more than I will, as is the case with most movies lately. Nothing wrong with liking kid stuff in my book though.
Having a better excuse to watch cartoons is honestly one of the things I am most looking forward to about having children. And if left to my own devices I will still put it on an X-Men, Batman, or Spiderman cartoon. If a someone thinks that me liking cartoons makes me less of a man, honestly I don’t really give two shits. Any body who cant get some joy out of simple things like that probably is just insecure so they have to act “mature” at all times.
Good luck with that.

I am the HULK. All I want my daughter to know how a guy is suppose to treat her.

I know man, believe me, but hormones are a bitch.

If I catch a guy in my house with his pants off I will rip his balls of as I throw him out the door.
All guys better come to the door to pick up my daughter. You honk you will be sitting out there a very long time.

I texted my buddy after the movie “Just saw Pacific Rim. I now know what a 2 hr orgasm feels like. Amazing.”
SPOILER
My kid had to go take a piss right before Gypsi got carried into the air by the flying kaiju. He came back, and I told him “Dude, you should have just pissed in the cup. That kaiju started FLYING!” He was pissed but we’re gonna see it again so no big deal.

So funny. I was with my old man and right after that battle we both looked at eachother with the I have to pee face. After a short moment we said fuck it and just sat there squirming for the last 40 min then ran out the theatre soon as credits rolled.
I agree about the 3D. It had its value with the viewing inside the jaeger with all the screens and whatnot but the IMAX screen and sound was just awesome.

It’s amazeballs. I can only imagine how nice it would be in Atmos AND 3D with proper glasses
I’m not sure if the 3D adds all that much, but the enormous IMAX screen is unbeatable for movies like this.
Yeah- it’s not a full sized IMAX screen sadly, in fact here in Memphis we only have 1 and it’s not usually showing these movies.
We had a IMAX screen down town, however it quickly became a hang out for crime and eventually lost business. Which is very sad.
I am incredibly lucky and have a brand new IMAX theater 5 min from my house. There is one near downtown as well and it is suffering the same fate as yours. It’s not the kind of place you want to take your kids after dark.
Apparently this film was made for IMAX 3D. That’s what a friend of mine was told by Del Toro at a screening he went to.
I watched the film at second time yesterday. First viewing was in IMAX 3D, second time in RPX.
IMAX 3D was just much better to look at. I’m almost tempted to watch it a third time in IMAX 3D, because the movie is just that fucking glorious to watch. I know I’ll never be as amazed watching it again at home, and this film could use more money.

I didn’t miss it. I saw in a review to stay after the credits. That was pretty funny.
