I had fun seeing Pacific Rim. Definitely oozed with Independence day meets Real Steel/Tranformers vibes. I didn’t give a fuck about the characters but, I loved the Jodo training scenes between Mako and Raleigh. I just wanted to see the machines fight and, I wasn’t disappointed. The jaw-dropping fighting scenes made up for the few boring cliche parts and, I was glad I stayed halfway the end credits to see some shit happens.

7/10
Will definitely watch it again. On Blue Ray.[/quote]
I’m sort of sad that Darkninjaa said she didn’t care about the characters. I like how Pacific Rim ceated characters I liked and felt for, I mean even that dick that fought with Raleigh later gave a nod to Raleigh after the battle in HK harbor.
I also felt tense when they fought those monsters…the part with young Mako was incredibly tense.
Another thing I realized I didn’t like about Man of Steel is that before you see that movie you wonder “How will the good guy beat the bad guy?”…In Pacific Rim it’s not entirely obvious how the edning will play out…Man of Steel’s was so bad as to be laughable…Superman will punch the bad guy a lot for a long time, then snap his neck. It just came out to brute force…no tricks or twists or ploys or anything.

Hahahaha!!
Nards, oh Nards, my man! You have no fucking idea: I thought about you while watching the fighting scenes. I knew you’d fall in love with PR. I just knew it!!
I couldn’t connect with the characters, sadly. Their back story was pretty flat and cliche to me. I don’t know, it felt as if the characters’ stories and background were rushed and crammed into this humongous concept. I wanted more so I could care. I cared about Clark Kent, the man of Steel. I didn’t feel the same with any of the PR cast. Maybe 'cos I’ve seen similar storyines before? The dialogue sucked and, only the scientist and Ron Pullman kept me entertained.
On a positive note though, I loved the mind-blowing visual effects, and the action-packed clashes of titans. The Hong-Kong battle was fucking awesome. I never got bored of that shit.
The special effects and action sequences were mind blowing. It’s certainly more daring and creative than any of the Michael Bay stuff that people are probably comparing it to. I like the part about going inside the monster’s mind but they didn’t’ get too in depth into that concept. Would love to see monsters thinking like humans.

I had to force myself to watch it again with some friends. And the “Don’t Ever Touch Me” must go down as 2 of the best lines delivered in a action flick.
