Just got back from IMAX 3D. In-fucking-credible.

The movie is just a great summer blockbuster film.

Everything except the plot is amazingly well done. And that’s exactly what you should expect. This movie is basically Del Toro’s homage to all those Japanese anime about giant monsters and the giant monster genre in general. Plot is not all that important here.

Couldn’t agree more. It was a nice mix to have Charlie Day and Ron Perlman in there. They provided a decent amount of humor.

Pacific Rim is the first movie I watched where I wanted to say “holy shit this is a good movie”, numerous times.
The action sequences are cool and well done, the acting solid, the story is gripping. this movie has lots of layers, it can be seen as deep and beautiful. Transformers does not even deserve to be compared to this movie.

awesome it reminded me of the early 80’s animes force five like del toro took a little from each of the mecha shows captain mask irdus elba, the dinosaurs from star vengers getter robo, the telepathic and teraforming from gaiking, I practically jumped out of my seat when gypsy popped out a sword ala every freaking 80’s mecha cartoon blazing sword, hatchet boomerang, this was just an awesome love letter to those early memories of mine. my only gripe is the night fights where hard for me to see properly not sure if it’s the theater or if I’m getting old

My one complaint is that there may have been too much plot. what a waste of time.

you know you’re correct, this film also had a plot unlike a lot of the usual summer blockbusters
