Shoes…
Wow, I have definitely been leaner, but you know what?? I don’t care!! I feel fucking great about myself, partially because this is the most muscular I have ever been…partially because I realize how far I have come…
I started squatting and benching 65lbs, and now, here I am about to have my first meet tomorrow! I just never thought I would accomplish something like this in my lifetime. The most exciting part is the journey that lies ahead!! I am so very excited to have powerlifting as a part of my life now.
This process has really taken away a lot of the cynicism and negativity society had conditioned into me…yeah…life is still hard, it still involves suffering, but I now have proof hard work pays off, at least in the most literal sense. I am happy just to be alive and do the best damn job I can.
So excited to do work tomorrow!!!
You are just the cutest thing EVER.
Go crush those weights tomorrow!
Best of luck. I hope your first meet gives you the same high and love of the sport that mine gave me.
You are TOO CUTE! And HAWT to boot! Love the hair, and all your new purchases.
You can definitely see all your hard work in the gym in those pics.
Go kick ass tomorrow! Can’t wait to hear all about it!
agree with all the above
KICK some ASS tomorrow!
I love your attitude, your dress, your shoes, your muscles, and your deadlift bruises.
love the dress, the hair and bathing suit! Go make us proud Owlie - and that leg shot is showing some serious muscles - me like.

HAH! Owlie!! You are seriously so freaking cute!! Also love the dress and the suit (I’ve been looking for a bra type suit myself!)
You are going to rock it today! Can’t wait to hear back from you ![]()
Ok here’s how it went:
Night before I could not sleep for the life of me! I was tossing and turning and got maybe 4 hrs total, which is out of character because I’m a really good sleeper. BUT I tried not to let that get me down! So I showed up and was the first one there for weigh ins. Made my weigh class at 131.9lbs.
Here were my lifts (everything is in lbs)
Squats:
opener: 210-very, very easy
2 attempt-230, should have been easy, but I guess I let nerves get the best of me. I dive bombed it and failed
3rd attempt-230 again, failed-it was weird because I was so freaked out about being called for depth that I went way too deep. I just acted like a dumbass, and I know I am definitely going to squat more in training (maybe 2x/week, 3? I don’t know yet, I need to figure this out) and practice hitting parallel and not going too deep and just build confidence with the heavier stuff. Next time I will represent!!
Bench-this went way better!!
opener: 126.5
2nd attempt:137.5
3rd attempt: 148.5-1lb PR.
This was very, very easy, and in the future I won’t be so conservative on my 3rd attempt. Once I get a 2nd good attempt, I will go money on the third. Training bench 2x/week helped a lot, so I’m going to keep doing that.
Deads
opener: 215-flew up
2nd attempt: 225, easy-good choice for a second
3rd: 248-again this was almost shamefully easy. Again, next time I will really push the 3rd attempt, and if I fail at least I know I didn’t cut myself short.
Although I wasn’t happy with my squats and probably could have gotten bigger numbers on everything else, I have no regrets. It was my first meet so I just got in there and did it. I set state records for juniors raw in everything, and I got a trophy! I will upload videos of my lifts later and pics of the trophy later.
There were only about 8 other ladies lifting and they were all really friendly and awesome and all did a great job and pulled some awesome numbers. It was at the Norris Conference Center in Austin. I met the state chairs of TX, Heather and Gregg Tillinghast and they were very nice, helpful, and approachable. Plus super organized and efficient. There were a ton of staff and everything ran very smoothly which made my first time awesome! Watching the raw deadlifters was probably my favorite part, even though it was all a blast! There are 3 more meets coming up in Texas this summer, and I hope to do at least one of them and maybe attend the others! For everyone that is thinking about a meet but hasn’t done one yet, just do it!! No matter how your lifts are at this point, you will seriously be happy you did and have the best, most fun experience!
I’ve been waiting for you to post! I’m so happy it went well. Live and learn for what didn’t go as you wanted. I tend to squat too deep, also. My coach gets on me about it sometimes. How nice to get a PR in bench! Was the DL a PR as well? Anyways, congratulations! I look forward to seeing your vids.
Congrats Owlie!!
Excellent, excellent performance. Now that you have a total and have been on the platform, you are officially a power lifter. Congrats.
Getting a total is awesome for a first meet and then setting records in all your lifts, getting PRs and going 7/9 good lifts is truly outstanding!
got a total and moving up now! Congrats!
Great job. You made good choices for a first meet. It’s all about learning. Your bench and deadlift may have been embarrassingly easy but you’ll know for your next meet.
