Haha yes, I loves them!!! They have enabled gains of all kinds. I even use them sometimes on squats.
I just ate a beef taco on a corn tortilla, but it wasn’t from my usual place. It was greasier than expected and now I feel blegh. I am in my iron needing time of the month though, so I will abide the bloating tomorrow brings. I’m talking about that iron in the blood if you catch my drift.
Did something weird with a PVC pipe yesterday and no I’m not talking about smoking anything. It was…uncomfortable. I feel slightly less terminally tight and inflexible than I did before though. I need to get more aggressive with stretching and recovery because if not its only a matter of time before I get a serious injury. Has anyone ever had a sports massage? I heard they are quite the experience…I figure if I can handle lifting heavy, I can handle one. I’m still kind of scared to set up an appointment though.
Apparently as per Masch, Kimba and Snap - having a handsome man is really key. Not talent, experience or charm. So when you shop around ask to view the selection.

I like the way you think, N.
Sports massage is awesome! Don’t hesitate.
Oh no, Mascherano will take massage from anyone willing to administer.
Definitely get a sports massage…do it for me.
Haha I need to look for a place to get a massage this weekend. I also want to get some better running shoes for conditioning and shit. I am thinking vibrams or asics, but I really don’t know too much about running shoes. Maybe I should research more.
I am 1.5lbs over my weight class, but I am not too worried. I figure I am probably retaining water from the indian buffet I annihilated last night. I am just going to keep my calories really tight and have NO cheat meals until after my meet.
I am definitely going with some really easy openers just to minimize chance of pooping. Here is what I am looking at:
Bench-125lbs
Squat-205lbs
Deadlift-200lbs
Yesterday’s workout-SQUATS deloadish
135x5x1
155x5x1
175x5x1
135x15x4
Goodmornings-still light, getting used to these effers
75x8x5
Cable crunch
50x8x6
Hanging leg raise to failure
20/20/15/15
Alright today is OH press and closegrip bench. I wonder if it is still worth doing OH press this close to my meet.
1.5 lb? That’s nothing. You can cut out water at 6 pm the night before and weigh in just fine at the meet if you’re that close.
Your openers look good. Remember, they’re just to get you in the game. You can increase as much as you want on your second attempt depending on how you feel. You’ll also need to convert those numbers into kilos. Do you have someone to help you at the meet?
I’m living vicariously here . . .
Snapper’s not the only one living vicariously…
GO OWLIE!!
wow!!! this is my first stop at your log–you’re a badass!!
hurray meet!! you’re going to kick ass :)!!!
kimba thanks! I will be sure to get some sort of vids or pictures to make the experience more complete
Sindie, welcome. I have been following your workouts for awhile and you are amazing

Yeah, my openers are all very conservative. Those are weights I can do even if I panic. They’re like middly warm up sets.
I do have someone to help me. My boyfriend is going to come along and be my handler. He has never done a meet himself but he is very knowledgeable about what goes on at them, and we will both be researching more to be fully prepared.
I wanted him to do this one with me, but he isn’t where he wants to be with his lifts yet, and its probably better he just assists me because its my first meet. I’ll return the favor for him one day.
that’s good your bf will be there–he will be so proud
and you’re right about the weight, i wouldn’t worry. chances are you’re totally fine if you’re that close to your class weight thingie. you’re smooth sailing !
i didn’t pay attention unfortunetely…and weighted in at pound and a half over the class i wanted! its good you have a general idea of your weight though --i assumed mine was way over, and i was to afraid to mess with my weight on my first meet because i was so nervous…i should have though but that’s what learnin’s all about i guess…GRRR!!!
I am terrified of weighing in over my weight class and having to lift with the 148s where I will be promptly dominated. I would have preferred to lift in the 123 class, but getting down to that weight would not be possible with diet alone and would require a lot of cardio so its kind of out of the question at this point. I just have to make sure I am comfortably under 132 which will be a cinch.
I have been working on a research paper about CAFOs for about 3 weeks now. Its due the week after my meet. I chose the topic because I feel passionately about animal confinement and the ethical and environmental implications of meat production. I was vegan for about 7 months between October 2008 and April 2009. As you can imagine, researching my topic has brought up a lot of thoughts I had been trying to suppress for this year of meat consumption. I don’t think I will become vegan again anytime soon, but I am flirting with the idea of becoming vegetarian or pescatarian. When i started eating meat again, I decided it was necessary because I needed to prioritize my dietary and nutritional needs even above my ideologies if I was to be totally committed to my strength goal. Now, I am wondering if I can do this without the meat. I will definitely be looking for locally produced meat though if I decide to keep it in the diet.
Or maybe just way less meat. I don’t know. I am confuse.
Owlie, I hate the CAFO thing too. I’ve gotta eat meat – there isn’t a substitute for me. Fortunately I can afford to shop at the Whole Foods and buy non-CAFO meat.
Very nice-looking openers for your meet - you must be getting excited?
Industrialized farming is troublesome to me, too; I’m bad because I try not to think about it, though.
Yeah, still working on the paper, still confused. Very excited about the meet though! At this point, I really don’t care what my lifts are/what I total. Of course I am going for a personal best, but I am much more excited just to be a part of the sport and in the atmosphere! I can’t wait. I hope I make some power lifting friends!
Squats-speedwork
135x3x10
Deadlifts
135x5
185x5
205x3
225x3
I was feeling kind of “off” here and got a little discouraged, but I had planned on maxing, so I worked myself back up. Boyfriend gave me a much needed pep talk.
245x1[pr]
I was happy with that, on top of the world actually, but I though, wouldn’t it be great if I pull 250 today?
250x1(PR)
Yesss!!!
This was earlier this morning. Just supplemented with some quick pull ups
5x5
My mood is slightly dampened because I just realized that the way our classes work out, I won’t get to train much with my boyfriend next semester. I am sure I will be ok, other than figuring out who will spot me on bench, but my training buddy really does help me produce results, as indicated by today’s workout!
WOW! Great pullin’ PR’s!
I haven’t posted before but have been following along. You’ll have a great time at the meet.
awesome deads Owlie- 2 PR’s in a row- your killin it!

250!!! Owlie, that’s insane!
I predict great things for this meet.
