I started OVT last friday and really enjoying the change of pace.
My problem is i go on vacation for a week next friday and i have no clue if there will be a gym near by.
Do you guys think it would be better to try and fit in three weeks worth in two and try and get a supercompensation effect or just train as usual and take the vaction week to do any type of training i can do (press ups, pull ups, bw squats etc) and resume the program once i return?
Thanks joe thats a big help. now with that in mind, would you propose doing two a days and having off days (e.g. AM chest and back, PM legs, off,) or go 9 straight days. I would think going 9 straight days would be better in terms of overreaching for the weeks vacation but wanted to check?
I am not answering for Joe of course, but I would think you would only do the 2-a-days for the last week. 2 straight weeks may be too much, but to end with a flurry and then chill for a week could be beneficial.
I agree with Joe and Trex. Besides, imagine 2-a-days for 2 weeks, then going on vacation feeling worn-out and ill. Ugh. Especially if you’re traveling.
The first week ive done exactly as outlined. after the last workout of the 1st week (which was shoulders yesterday), Ive gone straight into the 2nd workout of chest and back today and for the next 7 days i will do the workout in the order described without the off days in order to get 3 sessions on each workout before holiday.
After my week off, would you recommend going straight back into OVT or start another program. Probably answer my own question, but i suppose if i see results over my holiday period i should keep on truck’n, right?
Havent you only been doing it 1 week? there are alot more gains to make on that program if that is the case (and you are getting results-hard to tell in a week though eh?!)
All in all, it isnt that necessary to change your whole program every 4-6 weeks, sure it will help with plateaus, but it is a bit like using an uzi to kill a rabbit.
Saying that, if you dont make your own programs and use others (nothing wrong with that) you wont have the option, which i understand.

Yea tbh its pretty obvious to keep doing the same thing (with progression) untill it stops working for you. volume training so far has been a really nice change of pace from higher frequency/higher intensity training.
