Right now I am considering two different challenges.
Reverse grip overhead press
Or
Picking up a tire and pressing overhead for reps within a time limit. Score would be (tire weight x reps)/body weight. Done for time, probably 10 minutes.

First time going heavy on the reverse grip worked up to 210 for 1 after my normal shoulder work.
Nice work! That’s nearly body weight. I think bw is the goal mm had suggested.
I did some rev grip pressing between squats yesterday, sets of 3 well below body weight but they seemed to get easier the more I did. It is a nice movement.

Next week I’ll give it a serious go first in the workout when I’m fresh and get a video.
here’s something new for overhead pressing. i tried both the slingshot and titan for overhead pressing today. the slingshot sucked but the titan, with some tweaks, worked really well. It’s a great way to train supramaximally while still going full ROM.
i worked up to BW raw and then added the titan at 275. i hit that for an easy 4 and then went 295 and 315 for easy sets of 4. i’ll definitely be doing more of these.
i’ll give the reverse grip overhead press with BW a go next week.

i didn’t go for 300 as planned at my comp the condtions were uhhhhhh horrible so I did just enough to win the event. Going for 280+ tomorrow
I will give the reverse grips a try i have a feeling i won’t like them. I am for sure pressing a big ass tire though
Okay, I’m definitely in. I did 175 for 2x2 on strict OHP today. It looks like I’ll be ending my training cycle at 205x1. Next cycle, I’m looking to get the magic 2 plate OHP at about 195 lbs and 17 y/o. Super pumped. So, in about another three and a half months, I’ll have a respectable OHP to post in here.

Did you notice that the current challenge is reverse grip? You should check out the earlier z-press challenge.

Haha, nope. I just went straight to the last page. But, I’ll check out the z-press, for sure. I’m sticking with the strict OHP for now. It’s been a goal of mine for a while.

Do the z-press if you like strict. You will see.
Plus, one of the first to accomplish a body weight lift just won California’s Strongest Man, sub-200lbs and is looking to press a 300 lbs log one of these days (if not already).

DD, is that a bed frame turned on end for a stand?
Nice work!
Hah. No that gym is a broom closet filled with what looks like half hand made equipment from the 80s and never been repaired. It is the only gym in the town. Its maybe 300 square feet. You have to move stuff around to deadlift or snything.

I am disappointed. I have no rack but I have a bed frame. Guest can sleep on a mattress on the floor.

Hmmm. Interesting. I think once I get to the 2 plate strict overhead, I’ll switch to the z-press. Looks awesome.

Damn right! they do work for big overhead. I haven’t hit 300 yet probably changing to working on my axle press for awhile.
