It makes sense what your saying . All I care about right now is pressing a 300 lb log. How about most reps with standing bw strict press?
The idea of standing up and doing the same pressing motion but able to press more seems to me it is not as strict.
Ideas I had, not necessarily original:
One arm snatch
debraD’s dreaded sots press
One arm DB press
One arm BB press
Most interesting object (this is subjective, sorry)
EDIT: I remembered earlier that body weight for a regular snatch is a pretty good accomplishment, so any single arm stuff will probably be below bw. I kinda ugly got roughly .5bw on my first day trying (and it was a pretty off day). Not sure what amount would be good. Perhaps the more experienced oly people could help outwith numbers.
I may try my hand at these z-presses next deload week.
Nice work but why no lockouts on the first few?
Didnâ??t really notice it till I watched the video. I donâ??t normally bring my head through when Iâ??m repping a weight, because I have a tendency to hit myself in the chin or nose, but I got no excuse for the first couple. Iâ??m going to pay more attention to it in the future.

No worries got to work on the timing it will make it easier if you bring your head through as soon as possible

BW one-arm snatch?
lol, I’ll get back to you in 10 years
Played around with some one arm snatch kind of as part of the warmup today. They started feeling really heavy really fast and my shoulder didn’t like them, so I’m not sure I’m going to be doing too much more of them.

As far as I know, most experienced oly people don’t really do 1 arm stuff very often, if ever. Just pick an arbitrary number.
As far as most interesting object, I still have some washers/dryers sitting in my garage . . . though that would have to wait til we’re out of this cold snap (-30 degrees celsius without the windchill right now).

A miss and a make at 60kg
your arm really needs to be locked before you straighten up, there isnt the same stability you get with the two-hand

I got 45k today (video later) of the 1 arm snatch but I am thinking these are bad news without some prep, so perhaps 1 arm be work and DB snatches would be good practice before doing 1 arm BB snatch. I would benefit from some unilateral work on the shoulders so I will report back later if it helps with the bandit snatch (yes, I gave them a new name by referencing slot machines).
I have a used hotwater heater I replaced. Is there a call for appliance OHP?

Thanks for the tip. I’ve never much considered my form on overhead pressing, I just pick it up and press it.
It would probably be a good idea to work on my technique some.
tonight i worked up to a BW overhead military press…got 10 dead stop reps. i also did some reverse grip military pressing. haven’t done them standing before. i do them a lot as a bench press variation.

barX8
95X5
135X5
185X5
225X3
240X5 dammit. I did not expect OH pressing my bodyweight to be this retardedly hard. You can tell that I have not strict pressed in a long ass time, as my technique just felt(and looked) like shit. It just felt very unstable. Wider stance is needed I think. Strict pressing will now be a priority for some time.
Z-press: inspired by the overhead press challenge thread:
barX5
95X5
135X3
185X2 Dammit that was hard.
225X0…
I have some work to do on this lift.
I noticed a few things on this lift:
Using my belt like I do for a normal military press(i.e. deep breath, push abs forward against the belt) made me fall backwards when pressing the bar. I found this lift next to impossible to do while wearing a belt.
This lift seems to be rear and lateral delt dominant, as you can’t really lean back and use your front delts to power the weight up. I like this, as my rear delts could always use more work.
3.Does anybody else get severe quad cramps when perfomring this lift? Maybe I just did not realize how much I tighten my lower body for all my other presses, who knows.
Texag, you asked 5 pages back I think, but I lift at Metroflex Mid Cities in Euless next to DFW airport.

I have been doing mine in between sets of back squats. I figured the quad cramping had something to do with that. I think I push my legs out straight to stay balanced. But yeah, I get cramps in my quads.
