Do seated overhead pin presses count?

Well if you post something then you’re cool.

Especially if it’s impressive. :-)
I lost my response in the internet ether but this works.

General challenge - pick something up and put it over your head. Creativity if good here.

Current challenge inside a challenge, body weight z-press

If the weight is big enough, then yes. If not, well, no.

Try the z-press (instead of sitting on a bench you sit on the floor with legs flat), that is this months challenge inside a challenge. Videos due by like the 25th but can and should be posted at any time.

MMeat can one arm press me so we let him play here.

Haha I’ll play

Here’s a 235lb power clean/push press from a couple months ago. Might be the angle, but I think I was a bit heavy on the legs with this one… maybe crossing into push jerk territory. Oh well. If I’m feeling full of puss and vinegar sometime soon, I’ll snag a vid of a heavier/cleaner rep. I’ve since doubled this with less leg drive, and my push press and clean have both gone up individually so I can probably do better.

P.S. Sorry for the loud ass dubstep in the background lol. IT’S WHAT I DO

Very nice. Did not look like a jerk to me.

That music sucked. Sorry, after the first few seconds I was expecting pixies to come out and start dancing around you (which would have been a great effect in case you are hiding some on those shelves behind you).

Haha Skrillex tends to be very hit or miss. I know few people who are indifferent to it, most either love or absolutely hate it. The pixies only come out when I power snatch, sorry.

Let’s not drive this thread into SAMA

debraD, would you like to make these February’s challenge within a challenge?
We could but I don’t think anyone wants to do them :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe snatch grip BTN standing would get more takers. But I think the snatch grip BTN makes it suck.
Squatting down is what makes this intriguing, goes along with the z-press. I will try these and see if they are as much fun as Kalle says.

Well I’ll have to try something next week, my gym is closed and I’m sick. lol

It’ll probably just be a push press, maybe I’ll see how I do on the z press(although I’m nowhere near a bw one).

Maybe see if I can do the the one Deb is doing too.

This weeks pressing, log felt most solid it has since starting back on it even if I missed the 5lb pr just barley. sorry I didn’t edit the video right and it took forever to upload so I didn’t feel like doing it again.

Also hit 165x4 on Z press missed the 5th
Nice! I got to use a log this week, definitely different from a oly bar.

I really want a circus DB badly now.
thanks, How did it go?
It was pretty cool. Picked it up after doing a C&PP workout. I will post video later but my “max” press sat on my head for a couple of seconds. I also see where having a bit of a gut would help with the hip/gut drive to get it to the chest.
There is some truth to do but me personally the log is on my chest before I ever roll it up

Did the log again this afternoon. I sucked. Still not fully recovered from Tuesday. I have video of me failing to rack it if anyone wants to see it.

Do you pull the log tight to your chest and rotate(?) your arm position?

As of now, this will not be a challenge within a challenge. I did not have the flexibility to do much weight and so it does not make itself available to just try. If there is interest I suggest we all practice for the future. That said:

debraD-I am much impressed! I would love to see how you progress on that lift. Keep posting vids.

its all hip on the clean, if you watch my vids I have a good clean, i sit down get it high on my chest elbows UP back flexed rowing it towards you and as i stand you throw hips forward as you roll it up you want your elbows HIGH so the handles are facing 45* so you press it back over your head. also make sure to flex your lats HARD and your whole upper back. Just like bench. Gives you a solid place to press from and some more spring.

Hitting rear delts and upper back has really helped my overhead strength

Got another vid today. Unfortunately I don’t have editing software, so it’s just the entirety of my last round of a recruitment and explosive work complex. The pressing set is at the latter part of the video. It’s 185lbs for a kind of bullshit power clean into pressing position, then strict press for 1 rep followed by 5 reps of push press.

Thanks for the clear instructions. I will keep that in mind for the next time.

Hit a monster clean and jerk yesterday, but I neglected to get it on film. Shit.

It’s cool to see you guys keeping this thread alive though.
