What do you mean by if you take TRT it is for life? I agree most of elite athletes are on the ?sauce,? ?juice? or whatever it is called these days. Some guys such as Anderson Silva and Jon Jones don’t strike me has being on it because of their physique, however, their skill level is top 1% so probably not the greatest example. Anyhow, I did see the movie ?bigger, stronger, and faster.? It is one of my favorite movies. The powers that be want us to believe steroids are catastrophic; however, anything taken to its extreme will have negative repercussions. In my opinion, most of the guys who die from steroids were abusing it and were mixing drugs such as pain killers, which is a lethal combo. Excuse the tangent, I know you know this already, just figure I?d throw it out there. Back to the movie?.it is great. I like the point about Tiger Woods having Lasik surgery to improve his vision (making it even better than 20/20) as a comparable example to supplemental aids in sports such as steroids.
I think you make a good point. At my skill level (beginner), mat work is more important so I shouldn?t test the waters yet until I have a solid understanding of the fundamentals. I?m not going to lie, I?d enjoy being a solid 240lbs of lean muscle, haha.
TRT is testosterone replacement therapy, which only people need who’s test levels are not naturally high enough. No one who qualifies for trt will ever have normal test levels. Are a few straight years on your levels will be about 0 without drugs. So if a dr gives you TRT, its for life.
All pros juice, just accept it. It’s doesn’t make them less of an athlete, just more human.
Hey bro, once last question…I am changing up my training so I wanna hear your take regarding how many days I should lift. I am switching to only doing wrestling and grappling twice per week because of my school schedule. On Mondays I will do 1 hour of wrestling and 1 hour of grappling, and on Thursdays I will repeat with 1 hour of wrestling and 1 hour of grappling.
I am on my second week of Wendler’s 5/3/1 template only lifting twice per week. My question is, should I lift 3 times per week now that I have more days to dedicate to lifting while I am in school?
I my opinion, yes, lift more. 3 time a week is fine, 4 probably would be fine too. 4 days lifting, 2 days skill work, and that still gives you a free day every week to rest, party, cook, see family, hike, ski, and anything else you would want to do.
My philosophy is do as much as you can. If you are recovering well and have the time, add in more work. I train almost 7 days a week every week, because I switch things up enough to recover, I take care of myself outside the gym, and most importantly I enjoy training. That’s what gets me into the gym in the morning to spar 10 rounds while bleeding like a stuck pig.

Good to see you’re back in the gym pushing numbers that make me feel like a bitch. ha.[/quote]
No way, your numbers are close to mine. Plus with working 12 hour days defending freedom or American business interests, depending on how you see it, so your’s is more impressive.
Yea bro, been sidelined because of a shitty back injury. can’t wait to hit the mats again. all this pent up aggression means my fiance will have to give up some extra nights for me haha.
bro, you ever hear of sitan gym in queens? I wanna check it out. seems legit as hell.

haha, work your ground and pound on her!
Yeah, Sitan is a very legit MT gym. They train very “thai”, but thai I mean lots of reps and lots of conditioning.
I checked out Sitan. Shits legit man. A lot of good fighters there, too. I gotta tell you, my cardio didn’t hold up. Too bad it takes me an hour and a half to get there.
I’m actually looking to switch gyms. Do you know any legit (no mc dojo) gyms in Manhattan that cater to MMA?
I’ve been reading some reviews online and narrowed my search down to these:
I go to Ny combat sambo in the city. We lost out thai coach recently so we are lacking in the number of striking classes now, but everything else is awesome.
Renzo’s is great if you are a black belt, but anything less than you are just a dollar sign.
Marcello"s, has the best bjj in the city.
Your gym has solid reviews but I’m looking for an all around gym that offers the striking and ground components of MMA.
I hear Renzo’s is expensive. I’m liking the way Ronin Athletics is looking right now. They charge $135 for 2 days a week. Not too bad and they offer kickboxing, wrestling, and BJJ.
I recently moved from Queens to the lower east side of Manhattan. I’m nearby the 4/5/6 train line. I’m also looking for a good weight lifting gym…too many pussy commercial gyms in Manhattan so I’m thinking of buying a 500lb weight set and squat rack for my apartment.

I haven’t met any one who trains at Ronin so I can’t really comment on them. They use the gi which I don’t like.
As for weight lifting gym steel gym is the best in the city.
