Over Half Way to Goal

Sometimes an outside perspective is good. If you trust the trainer, then go for it.

I agree with Cal. Outside perspective can’t hurt, as long as you know what YOU want and what your goals are and feel like the trainer is working with you to those ends then I think you’ll be fine. If you trust him, then I think you’ll be great!

Yes. Although, I’ve hear some people say its sometimes harder if you’re starting at a sticking point. However, I’ve pulled 405 off boxes from just below the knee and clearly I can’t do it off the floor.

Deb, you’ve made really great progress. Its clear from the videos you’ve posted. It’s inspirational for a lot of people. Do you really think you need a trainer? have you thought about why you want one and what value they bring? I’m not asking to discourage you. I tried a couple of trainers and found they couldn’t give me what I wanted but my wants are very specific. Do you want them for knowledge or motivation?
My physique is not where I want it and I’d like direction to finish up my original goal. I don’t really want it for motivation. I get my ass to the gym 6 days a week. I just want to make sure I’m tracking for excellent results. My trainer was good (you’ve seen the results), HOWEVER, we had a year contract and looking back I think he paced things to go slowly. For example, I only deadlifted for 5 weeks at a time every 4 months or so. Seems as though (from reading all of your logs) that I should have been deadlifting in some form or fashion every month. Same with squats – it was in every 3rd or 4th rotation. I know you have to shake things up to keep your body advancing but those are big ticket moves and I’m thinking I should have been doing them a hell of a lot more often. The idea of using Tony (and this is what I will emphasize with him) is to get me on track to achieve my fat loss goals and then continue on with pure strength gain training. (Does that make sense?) I’m looking at him as more of a consultant who can look at my current programming, tighten it up, and give me the info I need to move forward on my own. I just don’t feel the last guy equipped me for that. I imagine this will be a short term relationship.
That makes a lot of sense. Clearly you’ve given it some critical thought. I had asked because you very often see people reflexively reaching for trainers for something they can do themselves or for something they won’t get from a trainer. What you are looking for was pretty much what I had hoped to find for a long time but as it related to power lifting. I ended up getting what I needed by training with a team in an old barn for free. Hopefully Tony can help you get where you want to go. If not, keep searching

I’m excited for you Deb!

This is gonna be KILLER! I’m so excited for you!

I can’t wait to see what he comes up with. I’m sure you could move faster than your previous trainer had you going. I’ve only been going to the gym for a solid month, 5-6 days a week, and made (imo) huge improvements! Hopefully Gentilcore will get you on the right (more right) track than you already are.

On my way to a wedding. A year ago I would have never worn a sleeveless, short dress.

Very sexy. Have a great time!

Very HOT!!! You have awesome legs! Hope you have fun!

Thanks Kimba. Nlmain – I’m still loving the calves too. Now I need to get the midsection to follow suit! Greeny – thanks!

Looking great! That midsection will come - you only have to look at what MiM’s done to know what’s possible.

^awwww, I’m loving seeing my name pop up like this…

Being a good example is what motivates me the most!

THANKS!!

Only moving forward from here Deb…

Thanks Cal. MiM is QUITE impressive! Okay ladies, here are videos I made for the trainer to be. One is DL at 115 lbs and the other is squats at 65. I did them so that he can check my form. Uh, they are on their side because I had to turn my camera on its side so I apologize in advance (not technology savvy here).

Let’s try this instead

That’s why laptops are so handy! Just flipped it on its side!

Nice vids! I can’t wait to learn to DL.

form looks good deb! but it looks like you oughta put some weight on the bar! those were way too easy, form errors show up more the closer you get to your max

oh btw - HI!

form looks pretty much perfect! I concur, put some weight on the bar next time!

Hi Soldog! I sent you the 185 DL (it’s posted here somewhere but I was admittedly being lazy in not looking through each page to find it

Greeny – funny! I may have to invest in a laptop soon.

Thanks MiM! I’ll video my 95 squats next time. They are kicking my butt so far (well more like kicking my legs, but you know what I mean).

Okay, bit of an update. The distance training is set in motion and I’ll be receiving my program tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to this because I think I will make great strides in fat loss and then I can really on making great strength gains.

Also, since the PT manager never resolved my account (I paid $360 and had only 1 session with the trainer before I fired his azz), the gym manager just gave me an assigned locker for one year ($300 value) and tacked 4 months of free membership onto my account ($200 value). I’d say I got my money’s worth.

Oh, and I purchased a hex trap bar because my gym doesn’t have one and I’ll need it for the new program. Imagine what the boys will think when I stroll (well not stroll exactly) in with muh bar!!!
