Over 40 and Smashing the Iron

im 43 this year, life time drug free, been lifting iron for 16yrs,started powerlifting 3 years ago, never squatted or deadlifted before that, current lifts 235kg squat raw just belt,250kg deadlift 155kg paused bench press, just got to say,its all a matter of the mind what you can or cant do

huge numbers, well done. more than my mind (or my knees) could do

The mind is where all the power is. How much do you weigh? You have good numbers for only 3 years of powerlifting. Imagine how much you’ll be lifting in another 5 or 10 years. You’ll be older but stronger. I’m 42 and I have to train smarter than when I was 22 but the gains keep coming. Have to a lot of recovery mobility work, foam rolling, and stretching but that’s the good stuff.

well, there is real iron in Irn Bru, so its no wonder you suffered for a while

Dancing on tables must be great for mobility work giving the table doesn’t shatter. Probably great for stabilizers as well. I once made it up to 107kg but I could not sustain the weight. I may try to get up to that kind of weight again but keeping less than 15% body fat. Currently running about 95kg but who knows in a couple of years things could change.

^ Holy shit 455 lbs and 15% bodyfat I would love to see that.

Sorry I meant 107kg so I changed the post. Yeah I would like to see a 207 kg human being with less than 15% bodyfat.

A friend of mine who competes in strongman and Highland games just came back from Iceland, says he met a Junior IPF lifter who was 200kg, 6’10", and lean.

Sounds like Andre The Giant without the gut. I wonder why Andre The Giant or other huge athletes who possess incredible strength don’t train and get even stronger? Now I’m going to stop hijacking this thread, sorry.
