I thought there would have been a thread by now but I couldn’t find anything other than that one regarding the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.
I am just ecstatic about this choice for a new Pontiff. He sounds like an awesome, awesome man. He’s dedicated himself to a life a purity, humility and service, and I cannot imagine a better candidate to head our Church. Super excited about this. It also gives me renewed faith in my Church, in that they Did not choose to pick some liberal, “modern” populist Pope, but went with a man who actually embodies the spirit and essence of what Jesus Christ taught us, That being service to God and your fellow man, love for one’s brother, mortification, charity, and love of God.

There’s another explanation… He’s latino, the Church knows well that Latino’s will soon be the dominant group in the Church, so a good way to make the masses happy.
Do you really think God talks to these dudes in funny costumes while they burn incense? Or are they just a bunch of businessmen keeping their centuries old business running efficiently according to demographics?

I don’t believe it, I think maybe it happens like I explained. But those are your beliefs, you are entitled to them and I respect them.
Just have to offer some other explanation is all. I hope it ends up being a righteous move for the Church, regardless of what I believe the true intentions to be. They have a lot of cleaning up and explaining to do, hopefully this guy has the integrity to do the right thing.

Thrilled to hear Michael Voris likes him, too. That’s an EXCELLENT sign.
As far as his age, well, you take what you have. When the best guy is 76, you take the best guy, despite the fact that he is 76. He seems like he is presently in good health. My parish priest is nearly 86, 6’4", has absolutely no trouble moving around without assistance, sharp as a razor and has all the energy of a man half his age. I’m not all that worried about it.

He’s also an Eastern Church Ordinary (since Buenos Aires has no Eastern Church Bishop) so he has the ability to say the Liturgy of St. John.

Your statements don’t make any historical or theological sense. You seem to have this fantasy about MV and the Church that is not based in reality. The peculiar thing about burning people at the stake is that it was done by monarchs.

I do not want to move this thread in another direction but, what exactly do you think a Latino is?? Most if not all Latinos are mixed. We are not a race we are a culture. I am Latino born to Mexican parents but, both of them are children of immigrant parents. German, Norwegian, Spanish, Bulgarian, and Indigenous

I thought it was pretty cool that, among other acts of humility, the leader of fully one seventh of the world’s population decides to forgo sending someone to fetch his bags or pay his bills, but does so himself, and takes the time out to personally thank the hotel staff. It is neat he went to go pick up his bags, but who really paid the bill? Did you notice he had the Saint Peter Mastercard? That is a joke, but he did pay his bill, but his money was given to him from the Roman Catholic Church whether as pay or a stipen. I dont know how the RCC pays its priests, bishops, Cardinals, or Pope.
Didn’t Pope John Paul I go pick up his own bags, and left his medicine behind? That is an honest question.
