Just out of curiosity, what is everyone’s opinion on milk? Arnold said “milk is for babies”, but its got a lot of good nutrients and stuff in it. What’s everyone’s opinion and how much, if any, do you drink per day?
It depends what kind of milk. The stuff you get from a factory farm has the same issues associated with it that factory beef does. If you’ve got a local farm, then great. If you’re not that worried about factory farm issues, then buy whatever milk you want. Personally I drink 12 oz. every morning in my shake. I’m thinking of switching to walnut or almond milk though, since both of those taste great, and since I don’t really know what farm my dairy milk is coming from I’m growing leery of it. I’m also trying to cut back on dairy, so that my pre-bed cottage cheese is all that I have. I’m occasionally lactose intolerant (no idea why, every now and then for a week or two I can’t have it) so there’s that reason too.
Now if you can get your hands on some raw milk, have at it.
I rarely drink milk but when i do i get unhomoginised channel island milk from jersey or guernsey cattle. The protein is A2 and it has a higher milk and and high levels of vitamin A, its also delicous.
I cut out milk due to digestive issues (bloating gas etc). I don’t think dairy and/or whey agrees with me.
I only drink a small amount with cereals/oatmeal/shakes. I just think there are better food choices out there. IMO I think other milk products like yogurt, cottage cheese, and cheese are much better.
So, I just read one of two reasons why they homogenize milk:
Author Nina Planck describes it best: “After pasteurization, dead white blood cells and bacteria form a sludge that sinks to the bottom of the milk. Homogenization spreads this unsightly mass throughout the milk and makes it disappear.”
Is this true??
Let’s cut through the BS.
Milk has a special place in Human evolution. While cow’s milk is most known now, throughout the world many different populations have consumed animal milks (cow, camel, ox, yak etc…). I come from an entirely Northern European lineage (English, Irish, Swedish and Austrian), and those people would HAVE DIED without cow’s milk. The grassy plains of the North are great for cattle, but not for Humans. We need them to convert the plant matter to digestible sources. Humans do not have efficient digestive systems. Exploiting a calorie and nutrient rich food like milk (cows ate grass and we ate their meat and milk) helped us thrive throughout the entire world.
Milk is a perfect food for an animal that is in a high growth state. Young mammals have high levels of anabolic hormones, and milk reinforces those growth cues. There is nothing special in milk that promotes cancers.
However, lactose intolerance is a huge issue. Some people cannot digest it. That itself is not a judgment on the food. Those who can digest milk without problems will thrive, and those who cannot will thrive as well since Humans can eat a huge variety of foods.
Non-issue. The world is a dirty place. Every breath you take is filled with mold, bacteria, fungus and pollution. Everything you eat is covered with microorganisms of all types. Those dead cells are also sources of nutrition. Your Human body can assimilate proteins, fats and carbs from everything between muscle meat and bacterial shit.
Fear of milk is another casualty of the modern dietary paradigm - everyone wants to find an enemy and claim that avoidance of that thing will lead to health salvation.
Coming from drinking about a liter every day to maybe few times a year, haven’t seen any special benefit of milk ( both aesthetics and performance)
You also have to realise the milk humans drank during their evolution and the conventional ones we get from the supermarkets today , is VERY different & incomparable.
Food is ALL about quality !!!
People who live in France are quite healthy.
Regularly they drink wine (fermentation has been used for centuries on all continents) before doctors and hospitals were available.
Regularly they eat QUALITY cheeses (again fermentation).
Milk available in north america(except Amish people) is usually of poor quality like cheeses made in that area.
Occasionally i have a glass of wine, occasionnally a beer, occasionally some swiss cheese or some ementhal or some french cheese.
There are bad fats, bad sugars, bad diaries.
Modern agriculture is about profits not feeding humans.
I heard the comment once that we are the only animal that drinks another animals milk. But I find it to be fishy that someone says that because if you put milk out other animals will drink it. I enjoy milk and think that it is a good source of nutrients.
Regular milk makes me live on the toilet. Recently switched to soy milk and everything has been good so far.
Nothing wrong with milk…it’s a solid option. Be certain to drink whole milk; not the reduced fat varieties.

So no protein supplementation? How’s that working out for ya? I have the same problem.

Look up rice, egg or pea protein. Having a milk protein allergy, rice protein is now the staple for my supplementation needs. Might not be as good, but better than nothing.
Milk is fine if you can tolerate. I’ve never noticed a difference cutting dairy out.
Did notice a big difference with cutting whey, however. Whether it was poverty concentrate/isolate mixes, or higher end isolates, whey never agreed with me. Been using a pea/rice blend now, and digestion has been 10x better.
I like milk, took almost a 2 year break from it since a lot of people said dairy (mostly milk) wasn’t great. Turns out I noticed nothing from dropping it. I’ve recently added it back in because I like the taste and the ease of calories. Next time I go to drop weight I will drop it again though. The extra 500 ish calories a day will be better used towards something that will fill up my hunger.
