Only need 50g of Protein/day :-)

This just in… we only need to consume 50g of protein a day! Why we’re actually “killing” ourselves by intaking such “outrageous” (1.5 -2.0g per pound) proportions of this macro. Our kidney’s are certainly going to fail!!! :slight_smile:

Sorry, I just needed to vent after the "lecture" I had at school today in Kin class. To think that this bullshit was coming from a Prof. that lectures at the same institute as Dr. Lemon (even the same department if you can believe it).

He’s talking about the average non-weight training individuals maybe?

You weight train,u gotta have more protein than couch potatoes.

My prof told me the same thing the other day in excersie phys. I got a few comments after class about how it’s pointless to take my protein shakes. The funny thing that I’ve noticed, is everyone who says you only need 50g of protein a day is skinny with no muscle. O well, let’em stay skinny.

Kenneth, that’s what I was thinking for the first 5 min of the lecture. That is until he said “very extreme exercise circumstances may be cause for an elevation to up to 70g but no more.”

im doing a double degree in exercise science and human nutrition at otago uni in NZ
they are up to speed with protein needs for athletes (they reccomend 0.8g per pound…close enough)
change your uni
the same degree doesnt hold the same weight from a substandard university

The first amendment gives anyone the right to make a fool of themselves. That professor is a first class example.
