One Quick Question on Androgel

I have low T, I wrote before…doc prescribed this.

I haven’t taken it yet.

My understanding is that it is a 1 for 1 replacement of existing T. IE if I am at 400 and take androgel (he prescribed kind of a half dose to just “raise” my T), then if the androgel contributes 200, my own body will reduce by 200. Thus leaving me in exactly the same state.

In other words, it’s a complete waste of time for “supplementing” T. It can only replace T, as it will shut me down.

Is this right? Or is there some subtle effect whereby taking androgel will result in a higher than current T while I am not shut down completely.

If you absorb 10mg per day you will have TT near 800. Amount absorbed is a crap shoot. Some absorb well, some not at all. Non absorbers often have hypothyroidism and not absorbing transdermal T is a symptom. With injections, without a doubt, what you inject gets absorbed.

After you take enough to be HPTA shutdown with TT=400, everything you add after that increases your TT.

As you add more and more T, you make less until your production hits zero.

Just taking a little to raise T is wrong thinking. You can’t simply add a little T.
