Agreed, except for the lightsabers those are awesome.

Just a question, as a kid I saw this at the drive in with my parents and was blown away by special effects and acting. Do people now look at this in the new age eyes of 3D etc? Because at the time these were ground breaking special effects. Just saying. I loved SW all of them. Did not get into Star Trek. I could identify with Luke Skywalker and Hans was an Idol for many boys.
This one is easy…Apocalypse Now. I’ve watched this movie in the same condition as Lance Johnson was in that movie many times lol. “Charlie don’t surf!”.

I see your points, D.
I was 14 when the first SW came out in theaters. But I didn’t see it (nor the 2 sequels) until 10 years later. So at age 24 I saw them and was not impressed… special effects notwithstanding. However I do acknowledge that the FX were groundbreaking and influential at that time. But that wasn’t enough to push the story on me. There is also the possibility that within those 10 years I had heard so much hype surrounding SW, that by the time I saw it I was let down.
I’ve only ever seen one 3D film recently. It was Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”. I was fully dazzled by the effects, color, and visual punch… but fuck if I can even remember any lengthy part of that film now - such low impact it had on me otherwise.

speaking of back to the future… im so glad they used michael j fox… the other actor seemed too srs for the role… michael j fox did a really good job portraying a hs kid that got blasted back in time…
I agree.
Though Stoltz is a fantastic actor, the part seemed to be made for Fox.

No question Fox was much more fit for the role
Casting Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty would have been as bad a fit as if Ben Affleck was cast as Maximus in Gladiator.

I saw the originals when I was 8 or 9 and wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t so much the effects I just wasn’t interested to much in the movies as a whole. The one thing I did enjoy though was that every time my parents to me and my brother to see them they would buy us one of the star wars figures afterwords.

Gotta agree with the man with the wang here… Stoltz just doesn’t have that Michael J. Fox acting style that worked so well with Back to the future.
Not because it’s a great movie, but because of the goosebumps I get watching it bc I can relate. When you’ve actually been in poker hands worth thousands of dollars, it brings new meaning.
Edit: And there are tits in the movie. Always good.

What?!
“Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms”
“Word bitch, Phantoms like a mother f*cker!”
-Jay and Silent bob
I live in WV, and since Affleck comes here from time to time with Jennifer, I’ve made it my goal in life to spot him somewhere and scream “YOU THE BOMB IN PHANTOMS!” at him.

You should do the roid rage bit from the after school special he was in. Or ask him he’s had anymore shotguns pulled on his ass recently, an ode to his O’Bannion character in Dazed and Confused.

And, you can’t NOT like Affleck in Dazed and Confused lol
