Also in honorable mention:

This. Greatest movie of all time.
It gives off a sense of hope.
Terminator and Shawshank Redemption are good, but would be pretty gloomy to watch constantly.

Sorry Nards, but I’m joining the small minority here who thinks Star Wars (all of them) sucked.
As I mentioned before, it’s sci-fi lite. It’s like fuckin’ Disney without great animation or bright colors. Speilberg can barely make a fictional movie with any emotional weight, yet Star Wars tries to have you believe otherwise. I couldn’t identify with any of the lame-ass characters, and felt nothing in the gravity of their situation.
Someone mentioned that Star Wars started a template for the genre. But it better serves as an example of whet NOT to mimic when making a great sci-fi film.
Back To The Future was MUCH better and WAY more believable, engrossing… because we really identified with Marty.
Will you still be my friend, Nards?[/quote]
Spielberg had nothing to do with Star Wars. And since when does the believability of a sci-fi movie have any import on its quality? Sci-fi films are entertainment, pure and simple. I was highyl entertained by Star Wars, more so than any other sci-fi film, so I’d say that the movie accomplished what it set out to do.
really? no one has said pulp fiction?

Some did. They posted a pic.
My clear cut answer when I first clicked on this link was Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels by Guy Ritchie…seeing all these posts though, it would be tough to say. Another time I might have said Pulp Fiction, but I watched that damn movie probably close to 80 times throughout my college career. I said “Aww man, that would be great” to about half of the posts, and Deb- you almost made me change my answer and agree with you, The Big Lebowski is great. But I’ll be original and stick with my first answer- Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you can’t beat the ending.
Anything with Belladona or Roxy Reynolds.
American History X
Im stuck between my two favorite The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, the one with JIm Carey or Jingle all the way… It Wouldn’t be a true holiday season with seing these.

Good one! I have the DVD and I think I’ll re-watch that.
So much gratuitous violence, it makes me feel good inside.

Yeah, I of course don’t take any offense, I’m used to people laughing at Star Wars. Mostly girls though. ahem.
Also…Spielberg had nothing to do with Star Wars. George Lucas directed the first one! I win internet points, but not on this site. I’ll have to go to TheForce.net or something to claim them.

Really, I thought Spielberg was a producer on the first SW. hmmmm Yes sir you have one points because I have learned something today…
I’m more of a Treckie than a Star Wars geek. Both are cool though. I look at them the same way I look at Old Cowboy flicks. Something outside of the world I know, Fantasy from the past or the future, Cool stuff.
People needlessly compare Star Trek and Star Wars anyway.
Maybe it’s because they have the same first name.
That Star Trek movie last year was absolutely fantastic.

I never really got into Star Trek, of course I watched all the movies. Not so much the TV show. Another reason I chose Galaxy quest as my one movie to watch, the parady fucking kills me, also loved the Family Guy spoof of Star Wars. Saying that Star Trek last year was probably the best movie I have seen in a long time. Reminds me I need to buy that on BlueRay
