One Bourbon, One Squat, One Beer

Nice progress little brother! And congrats on the new gym. I have to work out at golds because my membership only costs $2/year. someday I’ll have my debt paid off and be able to switch gyms. I have found that if you look angry and have headphones on, people leave you alone. or, maybe i just look angrier than most…

So, what’s up, Steely?

I didn’t know you were a code-monkey! LMAO! From one dark dungeon (cubicle) to another (gym). Funny, there are so many more coders/IT folks that push weights around than I ever imagined. There are a bunch in these forums and a few T-women as well!

Yeah, it’s kinda cool. Lots of recuperation time if you’re not on business trips.
Unfortunately, I’m the only lifter at work :frowning:
I’m being called names.
Nobody likes me. Weeeeeeeh. Lol.

ACK.

Fine, thanks for asking. You’ve whetted my appetite for power shrugs, man. Once my shoulder has recovered, I’m going to give 'em a try. Huzzah!

Haven’t been posting in here a lot lately. This is a pretty busy time for work and I’m scheduled for travel a bit.

Got another kid on the way, so dealing with hyper-hormonal wife. Fun!

My knees havn’t been tracking correctly for the past few weeks, so I haven’t gone heavy with squats or deads, but have been doing some higher rep stuff. I just don’t trust being under a heavy load right now. I think it’s because I was jogging around some places and jogging really just destroys my knees.

I’m using this opportunity to really stress upper body weights (going heavier) while de-emphasizing legs for a few weeks. Also, started hitting the rec. bike and/or stepmill every AM to bring the knees along (seems to help).

In just two weeks of this, and really cleaning up the diet, I’ve leaned out slightly, so I think really stressing arm/upper work may help retain some mass. Latest blood tests show that my “T” is tanked. Nothing new, though, I’ve known this for awhile now and have made fairly good gains in spite of it. The tough part will be retaining them while losing weight.

Onward!

Congrats on the new youngun. I find it really helps the situation when my wife is pregnant if I lounge around the house in a pair of sweats drinking beer, leaving messes, and ask her what she is whining about. Keeps those hormones in check.

congrats on the new kid in the oven SteelyD! seems to be happening everywhere

You been peaking in my windows? LOL.

It also helps to say things like “What are you doing wearing SHOES in the KITCHEN?!!?”

Thanks, ironically, “kids in the oven” is how I ‘babysit’ the other two… “Stop whining or I’ll put in on BROIL!”

Congratulations SteelyD. Must be something going around the forum. I’ll have to make sure to wear an internet condom.

Thanks-- who else is having a kid? I missed that post.

you need some foot/golfball rolling
and some glute air humps

Damn guys, is this forum making us too virile? ha ha.

Well, the good news is that air humping causes less responsibility 9 months down the road…

There seems to be a lotta strong lifts and strong semen around here. Congrats on the procreative efforts!

Steely, congrats on the new ankle biter on the way! Training is looking good too!

11/30 - Back/Bi Highlights

I “Back Day”…

Been doing rack pulls in lieu of deadlifts the past few weeks (bar inch or two below knee cap).

Rack Pull: 405x6 (mixed grip), 495x2 (mixed grip, PR!)

DB (Kroc style) Rows: 100x10, 130x10, 150x27 (+2 Rep PR)

BB Shrugs: 225x15, 315x15 (straps), 365x12 (straps/belt), 415x10 (s/b)

CG Lat Pull downs: something x many x 4

Fat Bar Curls: something x 10, x6, x8

DB Curls: varying weights x varying sets

I’m just exhausted, almost passed out on the rows! First few movements are the only ones I can remember

Awesome work SteelyD! Really good to see a post from you!
Great pulls and the Krocs and shrugs are insane.

Insane is right!

but I have to know, if you only remember the first couple of Krocs, how do you know you did 150x27?

'gratz on the PR’s!
