Once more with feeling

My lower back gets cranky every now and again but this morning it was way worse than usual. It kept me awake for quite a bit of the night. I haven’t had that much trouble moving in a long time. It kind of felt like my pelvis was out of place. You should really get you back looked at. A potential bulging diak is nothing to mess with. Especially if you lift heavy.

Fantastic! Today was the last deadlift day for this program and it called for 195 for my top set but I really wanted to know if I could move 200. Turns out I can.:grin: I don’t think there is really much more to say at this point. I am absolutely ecstatic.

Today is a good day!!

For starters, I think I’m screwed either way if I actually end up with a serious issue. I’ve never met anyone who had a back surgery and got better. It just shifted the problem. The word I’ve heard around physical therapy offices is “Oh, you’re getting your _______ (insert number here) surgery?” because it’s never one. I don’t really want to go down that road.

Second, and call me stubborn, I dealt with a pretty significant injury back in 2014. My disc swelled, pinched a nerve, caused shooting pain around my hip and down my medial quad, my shin went numb, and eventually my medial quad stopped firing (that was a strange experience). I had nerve testing, MRI, and all the things and luckily they told me I would go back to normal once the swelling went away.

I feel like that experience taught me what kind of radiating nerve pain you can have with a disc injury. I don’t have any radiating pain. All of my pain is on the sacrum or where it lines up with the pelvis. As far as anatomy goes, I have no idea what could be messed up down there because it’s mostly ligaments.

But I am playing with the idea of another MRI; I just need to decide which doctor would be best to see first so they can order the correct imaging.

I agree with you here. I just meant that maybe it would be easier to treat and deal with if you know where the problem is. Maybe if it is your tailbone it could be a tight ligament or tendon pulling on that area? I hope you get it figured out. Back pain is awful.

This is why I wanted to run this last cycle of 5/3/1. It has been nice to see weight PRs in the end. I’ve lifted more weight this week than I ever have. That’s a pretty good feeling. I have one day left (squats. Ugh). Then I’m on my way to new and exciting things. I plan to cycle back around to some form of 5/3/1 after The Quest of the Endless Kettlebell Swings. I’m not sure what program I will run, but it will most likely be something different. I’ve got plenty of time to make sense of 5/3/1 Forever and figure out what to do. Although, it will be summer. Maybe I will shift to a running based program for a few months with lifting as a support for that. The options are endless. Lol.

Today is a good day.
