Just here for the paycheck today. Unexciting and uninspired but completed. Tomorrow is a day off and a massage. I’m looking forward to both.

Been a crap week at work. We’ve had several very sick babies and multiple losses. One in particular is hitting me a bit harder than most. It seemed to be going well up until Tuesday. Now the baby has taken a bad turn with multiple things going very badly very quickly. I’m usually pretty good about shutting that stuff out, but I have scanned this girl several times and it breaks my heart that she has made it this far and will very likely lose the baby. There is a difference between following a problem that you know is there, and being the one who finds the problem. There is a weird guilt that comes with it. Like you are the one who caused it. It’s completely irrational but it sits in your chest none the less. This one is sitting on me.

I feel that way sometimes. Like I should be able to fix schizophrenia with my heart and my mind, because someone doesn’t DESERVE this. I rarely feel helpless, and don’t do well with the feeling.

Rest day.

I woke up to the sound of a cat vomiting under my bed. Dead nuts in the middle. So I had to move the entire bed to clean it up. That’s one way to start your day. Today is also my long day at work. Driving an hour and a half north to scan in one of our many OB deserts. Should be a fun drive in our giant van with gale force winds. If you never hear from me again someone can look for me in the magical land of Oz.

My current plan is to continue to attempt to build and gain strength for the next several months. Once spring rolls around I would like to attempt a cut. As I have never done this in a proper way I am looking for advice on programming. Currently doing 5/3/1. Do I switch to a different variation of 5/3/1 for a cut? Do I switch to a different program entirely? Do I continue doing what I’m doing and adjust volume and weight? I have several months, but I would like to have a solid idea of what I’m planning to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

I felt strong today. This was a good session. 160 x 10 was the goal and I got 11. Woot. I feel like I am making progress which makes me pretty happy. The sit-ups with a 10 lb plate made me pretty happy as well. I started with a 2.5 lb plate a few weeks ago and that nearly killed me. I am straddling the line between eating to support my lifting and eating like a fat kid. Lol. Giving myself some grace as the holidays won’t last long and therefore neither will the seemingly endless stream of homemade baked goods.

Today is a good day.
