Due to recent schedule I am forced to a routine of working out a body part once a week. Sun.-arms, Mon.-legs, Wed.-back, Fri.-chest. I have always followed a Poliquin or King routine, so, this is a first for me. With this new routine I was going to aim for 12-15 working sets for each day. Rep ranges would be 10-12, since I just came off a 5x5 protocol and am shooting for variety. I could use some comments from people using the once a week protocol. Thanks.
My first question is why can you only work a body part once a week, but can manage 4x a week 12-15 sets a workout? What were you doing before? Furthermore, you say that you have been following Poliquin/King routines, but have just recently come off a 5x5 protical. Poliquin, perhaps…King, no. I am not trying to critisize you, or put you down, it’s just kind of hard to give advice when there is conflicting information in the question. Personally, I think that 4x a week, 12-15 sets a workout is about optimal for most people who have a job and or go to school. I would recomend that you try Ian King’s limping/super strength series (you can find it in the FAQ section).
