On My Way to Being Awesome

Damn! I missed your birthday! Sorry…

Happy belated Birthday!!

You’re 43? Impressed.

Thanks for the belated birthday Skip.

Yes Oly I’m 43. Believe it or not.

9/1
power cleans 135x3,155x1,175x1,195x1,225x1,245x1,270x0,0,0,225x1,2,245x1,255x1,270x0,0,225x1
front squats 135x3,225x3,275x3,315x1,365x1
snatch grip sldl 225x3x10

Been feeling absolutely incredible for a week or two. Haven’t felt this good for 10 years. No aches or pains and not tired at all. Cleans with 245 and 255 were so easy I have no idea why 270 didn’t go up.

Awesome cleans man.

Any reason why feeling so good?

The 270 will be there. Great cleans and front squat. Do you do any snatch work? I’m beginning to incorporate more OLY lifting in to my routines and I have the crazy idea of competing sometime in the future. I have this dream to get strong in the OLY lifts and challenge the younger OLY lifters. I will continue to powerlift and doing the OLY lifting will be a challenge so I’m in.

DJ, not sure what’s going on. The only two things that have changed are we cut our volume of patients we see every day at work (I do cardiac/vascular ultrasounds) and I dropped back squats. Not sure if that’s enough to make me feel better.

GV, don’t think I could do a snatch. I’m stiff as a board. My cleans are glorified upright rows. But I really like doing them.

Do you think the rigidity in your shoulders could be alleviated by doing snatches? I’ve found that kettlebell swings and light snatches have really loosened up my shoulders as well I think these moves are increasing my strength and mobility.

Maybe I should do some light snatches and see if things loosen up. Thanks.

You know, I have been following your logs for 3 1/2 years now. I am pretty sure you left the “r” off of “awesome”, in your log title.
Great work. Always impressive and always interesting to follow.

Thanks Skip. You really know how to make someone feel good about themselves.

My traps and hamstrings are feeling the 16 sets of cleans I did yesterday.
