Oly-Training With a Real Coach

No problem. How does one order his hewsletter? I’d be interested in seeing that.

Strongman - That is so cool! I actually met Denis over the summer a couple of times to learn a little O-lifting, too. He and Don were very nice and I was as impressed as you are with Denis’ coaching.

I know very little about o-lifting and he was great to teach me the basics. They said I could workout with them whenever I wanted, but it’s just too hard to get away without the kids for me right now (my gym has daycare). I hope to meet up with him again when my kids are a little older.

I also agree that he’d be a great person for T-Nation to interview. Please tell him Jill said “hi”.

Unfortuneately, I had a bad cold just before I left for a 2+ week business trip in Europe. As a matter of fact, I am in Frankfurt, Germany now.

So, I will return to my training in early March.

This is not by choice, but finding decent fitness centers seems to be a bit of a chore in Europe.

When I travel within the US, I usually can find a decent gym to work out in…no luck here.

Not to mention, the food is…let’s just say carbs and fatty meats are a staple here. Not to mention the beer.

But I will keep you posted when I return to the US. I miss home =(

Next week I am in London, I hope I have some better fitness centers available…and better food.

I was wondering, when doing cleans does it matter where your feet go as long as you catch the bar, or do you want to keep them in mostly the same position that you started in? I catch in a stance that is wider than my front squat, though now that I focus on trying to kep my feet still, I can clean more than I used to when I jumped all over the place.

Congrats! That is really awesome!

I can re-late as a figure/finess pro took me under her wing to teach me & help me a few months ago. I can also re-late to feeling like uhhhh wow there is so much more to learn. I feel like I get schooled every freaking day. It is great though! And yes I can re-late to new levels of soreness.

Best of Luck sounds like you have the best guidance in what you want to do!

As Jillybop said: “maybe he could do some articles or interviews for this site?”

typically your pulling stance will be (roughly) toes shoulder width and slightly pointed outward. As you make your shrug, you will jump out a little bit wider to make your catch and your subsequent front squat.

Strongman-
I grew up in Frankfurt…made any trips down to Sachsenhausen yet? Man I did some quality beer drinking down there.

So its not like ir doesn’t count as long as you catch the bar?

cleans always count, brother.

Bump for an update!
