Hey guys i’m toying around with program ideas while on a deload after 6 weeks of 5/3/1 with jokers and FSL. I have my USAW (if that matters) so i’ve decided to add oly lifts to a 3 day PPL routine with 5/3/1 percents for the main lifts.
Like this:
Day 1
Snatch
Squats 5/3/1
Press 5/3/1
Day 2
Jerk
Deads 5/3/1
Front Squat
Day 3
Cleans
Bench 5/3/1
Squats
Any critiques? I also posted this in the BSL forum, but i want all the ideas i can get.
what about adding in one or two joker sets and a first set last on the 5/3/1 movement or even a pyramid down like in beyond 5/3/1. The olympic sets/reps would be 5-10x2-3 depending on the week and the final movement for the day would be 3-4x8-12 depending on how i felt after the first two movements.
IMO, stick with a program that is proven to work. Mixing and matching programs isn’t optimal. Wendler goes into detail on how to add Oly Lifts to the 5/3/1 Program in his book(s), so check those out.
Both actually. I plan on being a strength coach and will be forced to teach these movements so I want an in the trenches feel for them, not just regurgitate what I was told from getting my cert. And power aspect to help with my hip extension in the squat and deadlift.
