17 bodyweight dips as a PR. this is fucking pathetic. i am filled with self-loathing. as usual.

i was gonna have fatmanwalkies today, but I had to come into work early and do some shit. I will be walking most days this week, going for 5 days out of 7.

walked for 30 min w/30lb dumbell, switched hands every 3 minutes. my forearms are sore all the time now. I hope this means they are growing and my grip is getting stronger. if not, feh.

i’ll keep doing this, increasing the dumbell by 5 lbs every day until cycle 11 starts. then I will make the dumbell heavier, and carry it doing sled intervals. unless i puss out, which is always likely.

for a deload session, i sure feel used. prolly the shrugs making my neck tight. i am such a pussy.

down to 290. remember, the standard is under 290 for 2 consecutive days AND wearing my belt on the 3d hole. so, still a lardass, but maybe getting there.

Comes with a velcro closure. The only extras I got were belt loops. These things go big, too. At 38" waist a large is plenty big for me.

thanks for the links harry. i haven’t seen a 38" wast since 1987, so its the xl for me. My best bet for games is going to be ID and NV. I missed the one in my mom’s town in wy (last weekend), and the one here that I thought was in Sept was actually 2 weeks ago. There is a games in UT in August, so I will see if I can get up to that one, its only a couple hours from here.

How to make some home made throwing weights and hammer. Pick on the left side. Forgot how old you are but Master’s usually starts at 40. If they have a master’s category they may throw a 44# weight for heigth and distance vs a 56#er.
Advice: don’t threaten to eat any of the 300+# competitors. And there’ll be a bunch.

instead of lifties, at lunch today I went out and bought all the stuff that I need for my weight and hammer. now I need to build it, and find a 22-26lb stone that doesn’t have too many sharp edges.

i will try to lift in my garage tonight for the session I missed today. this would be the inauguration of the garage. hoping to fit it in

Damn! This is interesting enough to make me break my pissed off (at injuries) silence. I just got the stuff to make hammers today. Now I just have to go into the forest to pick out my cabers. I was thinking of a meet sometime in August in Utah for breaking my Highland Games cherry, although one in late July might fit in instead.

Are you building your hammers out of pvc pipe and 1" weight plates? Easy as pie, although I’ve yet to throw them.

Hey carl, there is only one more games in utah this year that I know of, and that’s in wellsville (near Logan, home of USU Aggies) on the weekend of august 11. I will be in CA playing with my family so I won’t be able to go to that one.

the big one that I thought was in september was actually 3 weeks ago. There are a bunch of games in NV. Are you in vegas? seems like elko/reno there are a few. I know that there are some real big meets in vegas, which would be cool to watch, but i’d never try and play with those guys

i built my weight and hammer last night. Yes, I used sched 80 pvc 3/4" - I could not find the threaded kind, so I just bought a 10’ pc at home depot for $1.97. $2 for 2 handles. I use hose clamps to fix the weight, didn’t bother with the duct tape. My weight is 55lbs cuz i couldn’t find the mix to make 56.

I got up this morning, and without warming up, threw
6 wt for height
6 wt for distance
10 hammer.

I wasn’t trying to get max throws since I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but i was really disappointed with my weight for height. I could barely get the handle to leave my fingers. I was hoping I was stronger than that, but no. I’ll have to check with Harry and see if its okay for pussies to learn on lighter implements. except for the hammer. playing THOR was way too much fun. I will totally warm up first from now on.

I have a great field out behind my office, about 15 acres of weeds, and so long as I don’t start right at the edge of the parking lot, the cars are safe. I need a caber and a rock. I’ll be looking for 10’ sections of phone pole. But, without someone to hold it up, I am not sure how I will do it. I am not real worried about it tho, i am satisfied for now with the weights and hammer.
