My asshole boss has been giving me major shit about not being at the office for 9 hours daily, wants me to do that whole hour for lunch thing. I bought myself a $20/mo membership to square 1 fitness because I can go there at lunch, they have kettlebells and a squat rack. maybe if I have something to do mid-day to bleed off my anger and hate, I won’t kill and eat so many of my co-workers.
the good news is I’ll be able to get close to my goal of 6 sessions per week, instead of the 3x-4x I’ve been getting.

How do you really feel about your boss?
Great cgb. A gym that has a squat rack and kbs is a good find. And only 20 a month. I’m sure your co-workers will be happy with a mellower John post lunch workout.
Okay, so yesterday, I did this at my new little gym:
1/20/14
bike warm up
stupid hip exercises
CGB 205x 5/5
High Pull 135x 3/3 oh god, too heavy, hideous back pump somebody help me, MOMMYYYYYYYYYYY!
Curl 95x 5/5
Back Raise BWx 3/5/5
I was hoping to do pull/pull/snatch with the baby weight, but even the babyweight was too heavy. after the back raises, the back pump calmed down. be dropping weight on that next time.
note that this place has one squat/bench rack, and only one barbell. I am going to suggest that they buy another. or bring one of mine so they’ll have 2.
1/21/14
bike warm up -9 minutes
stupid hip exercises
CGB 205x 5/5
High Pull, pull, muscle snatch 95x 3/3/2/2 (note that snatch form was sad, in an entirely pathetic kind of way)
Curl 95x 5/5
Back Raise BWx 6
i am pathetically out of shape, and i couldn’t do backraises because the pressure on my buddha belly made me want to puke. I hope I’m not always like this.

lifted yesterday if you could call it that[/quote]
Nice to see you John. Any movement above everyday life stuff is a workout in my book.
I “lifted” again tonight. Yesterday I recertified as a Highland Games judge. I wasn’t able to work my schedule so that I could judge last year, so I’m hoping to work it out this year. Depends on my son’s swim meets.
Deepest darkest fantasy: be able to actually throw in September. very much a long shot.
another week of this slow start, and I should be willing to actually post what I’m doing.
Also, I just noticed that I’ve been promoted to Level 3 Supplement Whore.
I’m well and you should be liftin more regular, young cous. I am. Got me the senior Olympics meet comin up on 4 May and feelin real good about them. Think I’ll hit a few new PRs fore I gets too old. I’ll take some vids and pix. Probably post on FB. This year goin with the shot, disc, hammer and the 200m, 500m, freestyle and 200m breaststroke.
Man have I missed you!
Your timing is perfect. I haven’t been able to lift for 3 months due to a herniated disk. The disk gets removed, and c6-c7 get fused on Thursday.
How have things been? Harry and I and some of the oldsters have missed you severely.
The upcoming surgery sounds serious, damn these traitorous bodies. I pray for the best possible outcome. Instead of asking questions you have probably already answered, I’ll read back in you log to get the story.
Since I was last on here about three years ago, I have been through a ruptured bursa (left hip, started this whole thing off), buying a house, possession by a math/programming demon (it often made me forget to eat and sleep, much less do mundane things like lift and throw), a forest fire that came within 100 ft of our house, and two flash floods (we now have rock, gravel, and tree trunk landscaping). The demon has been relegated to a fenced off portion of my awareness (the program has been released to the wild and is doing productive work). I’ve been lifting steadily since the first part of April and plan to start throwing again after school gets out. I’m at about 70% of competition levels and should be back up there in about a year.
